Hey all, I got my KHS Flight 100 today, its not too bad!

I'm going to equip it with some yellow bar tape, a tt brake lever and possibly a freewheel on the other side of the flip flop hub. Riding it certainly made me appreciate my Giant TCR C1. I was expecting this bike to feel as nimble and light as my Giant, but it really isn't. Good enough for a campus cruiser though!

EDIT: Due to the fact that this bike will spend ALL of its time outside, what can I do to make sure it doesn't rust, deteriorate or otherwise? So far, I've put grease on the post, and plan to pick up some framesaver rust-stopper stuff. What else can I do to help my baby live the longest life possible?

Get some frame saver to coat the inside of the frame tubing, GREASE the ***** out of the seat post (Mine is stuck) and check your BB shell to see if it is fully threaded. Mine isn't and your BB may be partially stripped because of it. Other than that, it's steel. Nice ride.

foul on the play. only posting non-drive-side pictures.

(a pet peeve of mine)

framesaver, lotsa grease, protect the parts that get dinged up when you lock it, other than that I bet you’ll get tired of it before rust becomes a problem.

nice ride. I’ve always been of fan of KHS’.

is this a 2005 model? Did yours come with the cheapo truvativ touro or the sugino75 trank cranks? and could you post a close up shot fo the track ends? I've been trying to igure out if the MKS chain tugs would work on this frame, as It's going to be my next bike soon. thanks=)

It is a 05 model, it does come with the truvativ crank. At what angle do you want a shot of the track ends?

so, what's the word? will MKS chain tug work on this frame? I have the same bike and am thinking of getting a chain tensioner...

also, to ProParadox, I dont know where you got yours but you might consider taking your cranks off and popping out your BB to make sure its greased up nicely. I just took mine out to bring the frame to powdercoater and it was DRY. I think mine can be salvaged, but I wish I had checked it and greased it up properly when I first got the bike.

btw, did you get a good price or did you pay MSRP?

Oh man! Look at that gorgeous fender eyelet!

Seriously, I don't know why more manufacturers don't drill their track-for-street options for fenders. Would it kill 'em?

Good on KHS.

As far as saving it from teh elements, I put grease on every metal-to-metal contact point on my beater. Rain likes to sit in those little gaps and make rust, so you might as well fill those gaps with grease. Places like, the threads of every part you attach, in the dropouts, braze-on holes, on the spindle where the crank arms meet the bottom bracket, rails of the saddle and the seatpost clamp, etc.

You'll probably have to shave the paint on the inside of the dropouts making a snug fit for the MKS tugs, but it'll work out, I think.

You don't even need the MKS tugs you could use Redline BMX ones, thats what my friend is running on his.

I really like the looks of that bike. Our KHS guy is coming in soon. i hope to sneak one in under the boss' radar. I think it will get some interest. I like the bull bars, consider using one of the BMX brakes with the hinged clamp. You could put it on the flat part of the bar and it would be much cleaner than a tt brake.

Really nice lookin' very clean. I considered the Flite 100, but I'm building something else instead. I can never leave any bike stock, it's not in my nature. I decided I wanted a more roadie than trackie.

Good Luck and enjoy your ride.

check the lockring and make sure it is tight. mine was improperly tightened and i didn't find out until 2 months later when i stripped the rear hub. i won't complain with my phil's now, but just do a quick one-over to make sure everything is peachy.

I'm out of town until saturday, will update with pics then though.

I will check the lockring and the BB for sure when I get back, I can't beleive bike manufacturers don't tighten these all the way at the factory...
