A conversion I bought a while back came with hideous unwrapped gold track bars. I even wasted bar tape on them to give it a fair chance, but no, they suck on the street. One hand position is one thing, but it's just unsafe to bomb streets in Denver without being allowed the upright and alert position.

EDIT: I tossed them and went with Noodles. Best bike move I've made in a while.

3ttt Competizione Gimondi bend - best of both worlds.
Also I'm liking compact ergo bars a lot for general use.

Though if I had the cash I would probably ditch all aspects of comfortability and practicality and get some 3T Scattos just for looks.

I use nitto b123 track bar and i like the top position indeed. That curvy corner is giving me a comfortable hand pose.
I have no problems trackstanding, skidding, fakie by using that part :p

I tried track bars, and really wanted to like them, but the lack of hand positions frustrated me. I went with a set of Japanese alloy randonneur bars from my parts box. The slight flaring puts the drops out wider a bit. While these are normally found on touring type bikes, I like the way that they work on a fixed gear as well. Here's a recent, but hazy, side view. I wound up using the Cane Creek levers, too. PG

Should I run a rest lever on the right side for balance? Also, this would keep my OCD from going into defcom 4 after 20-30 miles of riding with only a front brake lever.

you can also try these knob grips from velo orange: http://store.velo-orange.com/index.p...nob-grips.html

Or he could just use the extra lever without needing to spend an extra 5 bucks for a dumb little knob.

bro 02-24-14 03:28 PM

So what does "classic bend" mean? Road or track?

i use FSA compact drop bars the drop curvs out so you dont hit your wrist on the top of the bar while rockin back and forth in the drops sprinting.

I've been riding the track bars since I got the bike and I do not like them. Very uncomfortable on in the wrist and palms. Looks like I'll be putting road bars on.

Yepper. Track bars are meant for racing on the track and are not designed for comfort. If you are riding on the road, then road bars are the way to go. That's why I recently changed out the track bars on my Bianchi Pista Concept to road bars, since it's now being used primarily on the road. It makes a world of difference.
