48T crankset with bashgaurd?
Hello, is anyone running a 48T single speed crankset with bashguard? I can only find 48T cranksets without bashguards, and being all one unit, I'd rather have some protection for it, because if it gets ruined I'm buying the whole piece again.
I have a motobecane UNO, with a stock crankset of 38T with a 16 on the back giving me a 2.3:1 ratio....the 48 will get me to 3:1 ratio, more of my style. Thanks

Why are you shopping for cranks when you need a new chainring? There are a ton of bashguards available in whatever BCD You have. Put it on the other side of the spider from the ring.
E: your BCD is 130mm.
E2: buy something like this (I'm sure you can find one cheaper) as well as the 48t ring.
E3: if you're a sw8 skidding fixed rider, get a 47t ring instead- more skid patches, yo.

A bashguard is just a chainring without teeth. Fitted the same way - if your current setup is a single chainring, you'll need the longer chainring bolts (cheap). You can even make one yourself by getting an old chainring and grinding off the teeth though that's always seemed like a lot of hard work to me.
To be honest, they are only rarely needed, and then only if you wear long trousers when riding or don't like getting black chain ring marks on your leg (I've solved that one by using a dry lube, not oil) but if you want one, that Origin 8 option seems like a good one.
