Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? 1"-1 1/8" threaded=> threadless

instead of a threaded quill stem adapter from 1" to 1 1/8".. can i just use a shim and some spacers?

Bikes: Click on the #YOLO

Not unless you have like 3" of stack height and can fit that under the locknut.

Yea nvm.. Was just thinking I'd probably need a 1" threadless headset for that to work..

just trying to figure out the least expensive way to do the conversion to put on 26mm bullhorns. The salsa stem I have that fits 26mm is ugly as sin and I also don't like the look of the quill adapter on top of the threaded headset (though that's probaby my best bet)

Nope. That's meant to work with a threaded headset.

For 26mm handlebars why would you even bother with adapters or shims? Get a quill stem...

Isn't that just a typical threadless setup?

Yes. You're right. I remember seeing that shim from the first post as part of the setup, that plus 1' steel fork had me thinking it was threaded.

guess I should just get that quil adapter
