hello every one I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm hoping to get everyones help. I'm looking to get my first fixie. I was looking at building one but I see a lot of people saying for my first I should buy it to make sure its build right and save money. I'm ok with that but hear is what I need help with. I lookiled up the price of building one and it seems that it is much more expensive to build hen to buy. I wanna make sure its not a crap bike. Here is the one I found.. New 50cm Steel Track Fixed Gear Bike Fixie Single Speed Road Bicycle White White | eBay... it seems that the bike is the same price of a set of wheels if I was going to build one. Please help me out I wanna make sure I get a good start into the fixie world.

That looks like it definitely is a crap bike. What is your actual budget?

I don't really have a set budget I'm not looking to spend $1300 or anything crazy on my first. Id like something to learn on and latter I will build a perfect one for me .. just looking for a good beginner one for a good price.

I'm not trolling at all. It actually looks like a decent bike for the price and the wheelset is better than that found on the standard Kilo TT.

Considering the number of people who have had problems with Kilo TTs, it baffles me how it's still the go-to around here.

It really isn't a bad looking bike for the money, even comes stock with thickslicks.

Plus, unlike with bikesdirect, you can probably get a bit of customer service from purefix.

maybe everyone can quit slobbing all over the knob of BD now.

Is the polar vortex over hell now? Next year we are going to be riding Big Shots.

I've never dealt with them but from what I've heard, Pure Fix does have pretty good customer service and it simply looks like they're trying to step up their game some product-wise. I haven't seen that bike in person but it looks better than any of State's steel offerings.

Looking at the Pure Fix, my only real concern is the limited number of sizing options. The stock setup comes with only one brake, but at least it's a front brake, unlike the Kilo TT with a rear brake. Also, they offer an additional rear brake for only $25. The stock Wellgo pedals are probably throw-aways, as they offer no foot retention. The rear dropouts are definitely nicer than the Kilo TT. From the photos I really can't see if the frame welds are nice or not, which is one of the high points of the Kilo TT frame that is made in Taiwan.

I'm assuming dealers probably snatched them all up. I'm thinking of setting up a meeting with their local sales rep so I can check one out in person.

I could walk to their office from my house so I could get even better service. I was considering getting one of their FGFS bikes for fun but I can't justify it at the moment

Wow, I never realized their office is literally at the turn around point of my regular maintenance ride. I should pop in and see if they have something I could ride

Yup, I try to ride it at least few days out of the week before work. A quick half hour sprint makes a great cup of coffee.

Do it. It'll be good to have a trustworthy firsthand opinion.
