SS Build done..time to ride.
Ok so I have been putting together a SS MTB. Frame from Bay for $20 was about the only cheap part of it...well I got the fork for free from someone here so that was cheap too. Everything else was new and if I dig it will be moved over to a better frame in time.
Now I just got to get out there and ride.

So, whats the verdict? I'm diging my fixed commuter so much, I'm starting to think about going SS on my MTB.

I don't know yet. I just got it finished last eveing and didn't have time for a ride. If I don't get one in today it will be a few days as the weather is supposed to go to poop for several days. Plus I really want to give it several rides before I make my decision on how cool this is exactly.

just don't give it up if your verdict is still negative after a couple rides.... it takes a while to get used to it (especially out there in rocky, hilly, central PA).
hell, there are still places i prefer to ride gears (the one's with many steep hills)

Yea I probably wont ever sell it off no matter what. It will be kept around as a beater even if I hate SS MTB riding. The one thing that does bug me about it is that I will have to drive to ride, which is why I got back into road biking it is simple, just go out the door. With the SS it maks getting to the trail head a bit of a chore if riding there.
