Miche Supertype Seatpost owners?

Inspired by the "seatpost lust" thread, I suddenly really really want a Miche seatpost. At $70 shipped from repartocorse, it's about as much as a Thomson, but approximately infinitely cooler looking. However, I have about seven inches of seatpost sticking out of my frame, and I fear that that may be too much for the 220mm Miche. So...I was just wondering how much of the Miche seatpost needs to be inserted in the frame. I'll stop thinking about it and get back to concentrating in school if I get a definitive "no, it just plain won't work." Thanks.

Bikes: Custom DeanUSA El Diente CTI, Rich Adams Track, Johnny Coast Fixed, Argon18 Gallium Pro

About 2 5/8" minimum needs to be inserted into the seat tube. Or 64.5mm.

Which leaves you about 6 inches showing.

"no, it just plain won't work."

Unless, of course you buy a whole new bike...

Dude, chill out. Aesthetics count for something.

Without aesthetics we would all be dead.

Thanks guys, now I can stop worrying about it and save myself $70. I just hate the weird looking silver-with-black-cutouts post that came with my IRO. It doesn't match all my black components and it just looks cheap. I've been using a nice matching Ritchey seatpost, but it'll have to go back on my mountain bike when I go back home in May, and I'll really be wanting a new seatpost then. But I guess I'll look at some cheaper, less awesome alternatives.

Will someone please post the cheapest place to get one then? I'm dying to have one myself, but I can't really find anyplace reasonable.

Aren't you the greedy one?

If you all are determined to grab up all the silver miche, then, dammit, I guess I'll just have to go with campy.

I guess that didn't really work. All this reasonable pricing nonsense is making me want one even more. But, if I use it, I'd either compromise some safety and integrity of parts/frame or power transfer. I wish I had slightly shorter legs. I feel like I'm hunting for an "it'll work if you don't sit on it too hard" vote, so I can justify buying it, but that's just bad advice...or is it? I weigh 140. Anyone? I'm not even sure if I'm serious or not.

Which again confirms my belief that a lot of people ride too small frames. My frame is the right size and look at how nice the supertype looks it!

who knows where to get the silver supertype post? I'm hording components for a track bike I'm getting in oct, but I can't find one anywhere on this side of the Atlantic. Can anyone help me out? I have the black one and, aside from a little trouble getting the seat to clamp in, I LOVE IT! Thanks.

Yes I have been drooling over that red one. But this white one was only 9 bucks so it can be a little less than perfect. Once I'm rich though the red one will be bought.

i brought up this before, but no one seemed to raise an eyebrow to the idea but me...

has anyone thought of doing the oven cleaner trick on their black supertype ($30) to turn it into a silver supertype? ($70)

i would totally pioneer this field if i didn't want mine to stay black.

you spray it. anodizing comes off. there's no real telling what the finish is going to be like afterwards, but i'm sure it can be polished up.
