after bumping into someone last nite at helios i was thinking of a 17tfreewheel, another question for you, i'm looking into carbon forks & it's been tough finding a rake match for the langster (40mm) so i'm wondering how much can tire size compensate for rake difference, ie: a 20mm tire with a 37mm offset or 25mm tires with a 44mm offset?

I should have freewheels. I don't think the tire is going to change the effective rake all that much, you have to raise the steerer quite a bit to get any kind of noticeable change.

I think that looks like a pretty cool bike, myself. Too bad about the integrated headset, that would be a deal breaker for me.
