Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It's not the chain that's stronger; it's the cogs and chainrings. But not enough to make a fuss over.

1/8 inch because I have snapped a 3/32 inch chain and I never want to do that again

False. Not all 1/8" chains have the same plate thickness.

For example, look at a KMC Z410's plates in comparison to a KMC Z410H, D-101 or Izumi Super Toughness and tell me your equine eyes don't see a difference.

Yeah let's dig out some obscure expensive crap to try and prove the general point wrong. just being 1/8 alone doesn't make it stronger so the point stands. Pedant.

Not sure what planet you're from but here on Earth, he Z410H, D-101 and Super Toughness are common track chains.

Not trying tom play the "know-it-all" card here, just simply pointing out that your statement was wrong.

Judging from how many my shop sells and the number of people using them here on the velodrome, I'd say they're pretty common.

Also, the KMC Z410H I mentioned above is a $10 chain that comes stock on several complete fixed gear bikes (the All-City Big Block being one).

Y u no include 1" skip tooth? Both 1/8" and 3/32" are for casuals who only walk their bike down the sidewalk to the nearest trendy coffee shop.

Why no love for 3/16?

1/8th chain on 3/32 chainring and cog.

When you need a chainbreaker that is made with a 3/16 chain in mind for a 1/8 chain, you have a tough chain, same goes for the D101.

I run a 3/16" chain. I ordered it accidentally! I put it on anyway and have done many miles on it. Works fine and good novelty factor with many people commenting on the "motorbike chain". It is left hand drive also.
