F/S IRO frame, 50cm
huh?
You are a very tiny man.
hey i ride a 50cm IRO too... So i'm a bit on the short side... I'm average asian height... my justfication for height deficiency
I'm curious, how do you know that the frames cost $125?
Even if you are correct about that, do you really think the $175 left over is pure profit? Let's see, he probably has some rent to pay for his business. Does he have any employees? Gotta pay them. He has a website, gotta pay for that. Does forget about federal and state income tax. That $175 is looking smaller all the time. You can always buy an old steel frame with horizontal dropouts. |
This has gotta be the dumbest thread ever. If your goal is to get stuff wholesale, get a job at your LBS and repair Specialized Hardrocks for minimum wage. Then come back and whine about how you're getting ripped off.
true true....talk about bad buyers remorse.
is this thread serious?
If there's a problem with the IRO business model it's that it relies on cheap asian production instead of keeping jobs in country. I'd hesitate to buy one of his frames for this reason, but it's not really a big problem because everyone has the opportunity to pay way more for a bike made here in the states. What do lugs and a tubeset cost? 2-300 bucks? hey, wait a minute, sacha white is ripping us all off (by making what is probably a crappy hourly wage)... shoot, a good paint job costs more than an IRO frame. No one's getting shafted, except the good citizens of this board! |
i don't own one (IRO) but u can ask that guy who makes them if he wholesales them for $125.,I have one of his invoices that somehow found its way in my order.

I wouldn't go so far as comparing a small seller like IRO or any other small business like that to Walmart. I wouldn't buy from Walmart even if they only sold american made goods because they'd just be exploiting american workers instead of foreign one. The whole outsourcing argument is a long and drawn out one that i'd rather not get into, but I think It depends on what niche you are aiming for. You build very nice, handmade frames, but even you cannot expand your business significantly with this method unless you have someone else to build for you, but its hard, but not entirely impossible, to be competitive and make enough of a profit when you only have american manufacturing. I'm not saying outsourcing is okay, I'm just pointing out the business end when you are trying to keep up with demand. |

Wtf********** Huh? hey i'm the guy in central park riding the red bike,so next time you see me come over and say Hi
When Tony was clearing out the old models (with 26.0 post sizes) he charged $125 for them. Like mentioned in previous posts, there's operating expenses to cover included in the retail price. You wouldn't expect someone with as good Customer Service as Tony has to take a loss on every frame would you?

WHAT THE F*&#!!! dude...you need to go get tucked into bed now...so run along and call for mommy and leave the grownups alone...
