got no bike to show up with tonight...

so i went to mit tonight. i was a blast. we had about 10 peeps show and we did heat races and relays. i held my own sorta ehh. its goin down every thursday and the more heads that show the more fun it is. also lots of nice bikes to check out.

I won't be there next week but people should remind me and I'll be in the week after. Sounds like a hoot.

yeah it was a lot of fun. i had never raced before and most the guys there were veterian messangers or had been ridign for a while. but they didnt care who came. a dude showed up of a mountain bike and raced and all was good. im still tryin to catch my breath though.

wow, and to think i could have raced my bike, instead of almost getting arrested in my dorm rooms cause wentworth cops are stupid ****s

yeah its possible about the roomate thing. although i kinda want to get out of this building due to the massive amounts of break-ins its had in teh last 4 months.

MIT has a functioning fission reactor in the middle of campus. Right across the street from the functioning cyclotron, apparently they need (or needed) the reactor to power the cyclotron. You know, right in the middle of the city. lol. I miss MIT.

The funny thing is that the city of Cambridge has an ordinance against transporting nuclear material through the city, raising the question of how the MIT reactor is supplied.

I thought they had 2, I know that WPI also has a reactor.

They've got a fission and experimental fusion reactor. Both are research vessels (the fission reactor doesn't produce electricity) but I believe only the fissile fuel is considered as nuclear material. Typical fusion reactor designs use radioactively benign hydrogen isotopes and even in operation emit relatively low level of radiation.

Hey if anyone goes to this let me know what the track is like and how it is riding the turns; from what I understand its just the regular running track right. I ask this because the community college 2 miles from my house has an asphalt track that no one uses and reading this post made me think of starting my own races there. I am just kind of wondering how long the sprints are and stuff like that, sounds like it would be a good time.

no its my conversion with 3/32. but I could use one of those old hairnet helmets. I dont know how Im gonna push the 89" gear back up the hills to brighton though...

It's changed to tonight!!!! because they think it's going to rain tomorrow, so go tonight at 10:30 at the MIT track!!! I'll be there. . . in july.

ok, well when i was at cambridge bikes they said they might move it till tonight due to the weather but i thought it was not supposed to rain till tomorrow friday anyways...

i think i might show up, depending on whether it rains or not, since i was supposed to go to kings (bowling alley/bar off belvedere st). i'll end up making my decision last minute, but i was in cambridge bike yesterday, and they said depending on how hard it rains, they should still be riding tonight

once again, none of you guys showed and once again, it was fun. we had about 10 heads show up and there was some good competetion this week. i had to run from the cops for a hot minute but all was good. we beat the rain too. there is talk about sunday night at 9. so hopefully all you guys will make it out to that. speed and sauce...
