Schwinn Maddy chrome chips solutions?

Hey, I got a used 2009 Schwinn Madison and I was planning to strip the paint knowing that it's full chrome underneath. I understand that it won't come out perfect since it's used and there are a few chips. Some of the chrome underneath has also chipped and is developing surface rust. I was wondering if there are some ways to prevent this and also make it look less noticeable?

Me too.

Also, so you know, the black Madisons are NOT full chrome underneath. The "chrome" you're seeing on the ends of the chain/seat stays and fork is actually just paint.
