Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

San Francisco Fixed Saturday Ride

Come join a bunch of nerds and hipsters on track bikes to go riding way up North, or just somewhere far far away. We're probably going to ride out to San Rafael and possibly farther, but we're open to route suggestions.

Meet up down at Market and the Embarcadero around 9am.

Sounds fun, but a couple things...
- Why would you want to leave the city?
- If you are leaving the city, why not go down to the track with us?

1) We like to see trees sometimes. And to pass roadies on full carbon bikes.
2) I wasn't aware of any rides down to the track. How do ya'all get there? Is this a weekly thing or what?

We're driving our bikes down to the track on Saturday, see thread titled: "Bay Area - Hellyer anyone?" https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/96153-bay-area-hellyer-anyone.html There's no way I'm riding 50 miles to the track and then racing, and the train doesn't get to San Jo early enough to ride over there, so you pretty much have to drive.

There is a beginner's session at the track on Saturday morning at 8:30am. Lots of fun, you guys should come....
