Bikes: custom Moyer track bike, '94 Bianchi track bike, 99ish Bianchi Reparto Corsa 9speed record/chorus, '81ish Koga Miyata FullPro, '84 trek 720 touring bike, mid-80s Montagner slowly being built w/period campy

color question

so my good friend is building me a custom track frame. in fact, it's almost done and now comes the tough decision. what color(s) do i get it painted? it's old school standard tubing, henry james lugs, campy dropouts. the parts will be dura ace (7600) cranks w/black chain ring, headset, high flange hubs, open pro cd rims, 123 drops. any and all suggestions appreciated.

order of preference:

1. richard sachs red w/ creme lugs
2. white w/ chromed lugs
3. orange w/ light pastel (green?) lugs

Bikes: Thylacines...only Thylacines.

Did you just say orange with pastel green lugs? You know, I thought there was something fundamentally wrong with Texas, and this just proves it.

My vote? Black with red lugs with red ice pearl in the clearcoat.....or BRG with cream head tube and seat tube......or just plain old fashioned pearl white.

To send you round the bend, have a look in the bikelugs.com gallery, semcustompaint.com, or spectrumpowderworks.com.

my mom told me, "if you dont have anything nice to say, don't say it at all."

after which she added that she has seen your bikes, and that theyre not likely to appear in any of those galleries anytime soon

If you are taking the time to get a custom frame that will last a lifetime, give it a coating that will last a lifetime, look into powdercoating! It will last forever, never chip off, and prevent rust better than paint will. Good coaters like https://www.spectrumpowderworks.com can even do multi-tone, metallics, fades, clearcoats, etc.

peace,
sam

P.S. I vote for polished and clearcoated.

Pearl white is beautiful. . . at least I like to think so. If you can, pearlescent white is perfect and the tiny flakes reflect the sun like reflective tape in headlights.
