I heard a guy who owned one once say he just u locked it through the valve hole. I guess it wouldn't be too big a deal if your rear was close enough to the seat tube

You're sacrificing a whole bunch of theoretical zoom-zoom gained if you leave that valve hole uncovered.

Well, I wouldn't use a disk wheel on the road in the first place. But if for some reason I had to, I'd at least not use a quick release hub, and would also consider theft-resistant nuts.

One of these days I need to photograph the red Diamondback (I think) SS MTB conversion I see at the grocery store all the time. It's a beater/commuter, but it's kinda perfect in its own way.

The bike is mine -- I'm just being a cheeky b*****d. It never left my sight as I was getting a bagel to go.

My guess is that the bags are improvised bar mitts. I don't recall seeing the cast iron bases, but they probably had table tops attached to them.
