How many of you guys DON'T ride vintage track bikes?
I know that there is a huge love for the old vintage track bikes, and this thread is not to take anything away from them. Personally, they don't do anything for me. I love the newer aero style track bikes. That is what I ride and will continue to ride. Anyone else?

Looks like you aren't Hipster enough. Hipsters like everything vintage. Anyways, I'm a big fan modern everything, so much like you the vintage frames do nothing for me.

How old does a bike have to be to qualify as Vintage? Mine was built in the early 2000's so I think I'm excluded.

See, I knew that this was going to go down like this. Scrod - where exactly did I call a vintage bike an old ugly piece of garbage? That bike is fine for you, and as long as you like it, ride on man. It does nothing for me. I like the look of the modern track bikes. Not necessarily Leaders, but the along those lines. Don't you think that you took this a tad bit too personal? I knew that you would post here, the way that you did.

Yeah, well if it's lugged steel and has a threaded headset with a quill stem, it will pretty much look vintage.

Yeah but hipsters love aerospokes for some reason. And impractical pursuit bikes with wind catcher wheels. And neon colored stuff.

I never saw a compelling argument for riding track bikes on the road. So I don't, vintage or otherwise. Plus I have enough respect for track racing and riders that I see no reason to be act as a poseur. All my fix gears are road bikes and always have been. Most have served the double duty of answering my love of fix gear riding and as workhorse rain, winter, commuting and city bikes. So while almost all have fallen under these guidelines ( of pre 1990) for vintage, zero attempts have been made to respect that. (The one that doesn't qualify is a ti custom. It does have a fork, that while brand new, is indeed "classic". 531, 1" steerer, classic flat crown, beautifully built.)
So count me as a "DON'T"

The last time that I rode a track bike on the road of any vintage was when I had one like this:
It was a very good bike on the velodrome, and a misery for winter FG training on the road.
Removed from it's intended environment it rode like a lumber wagon on the rough roads, was nervous descending hills and skittish in strong cross winds.
Lesson learned I ride properly equipped fixed gear Road bikes on the road.
Horses for courses as they say.

I ride an early 2000's Affinity (is that vintage yet), but it's just as ****ed up as any of your fancy antique velocipedes.
