I Want A Kilo TT!

I have never owned a Kilo TT. But as I read these forums and I see how everyone seems to concur on how these are great budget bikes, on par with PBR, I really, really want one. Why? I don't know, why not?

Having said, let's start a thread for the whole world to see what your Kilo TT looks like (inspiring me and the next generation of Kilo TT owners), and how you've upgraded it, making it all the more AWESOME!

Post your pics now!

Thanks.

The models haven't changed. Looking at a 2011/2012 thread you'll see the exact same thing as you would today

I know. I was just being stupid/silly. However, I'd still like to have a Kilo TT.

I understand it to be the bestest bike that was ever suggested online. I can understand your uncontrollable desire to have one given the social and psychological pressures exerted from the forum. Conform. Get one. Do it now.

Hell yeah! Especially after I dump about $1,000 of upgrades into it. Then it will most undoubtedly be the bestest bike that ever was!

FTFY as a bunch of people already done it here....

Also there'll come a time you'll upgrade the frameset as well. Where's your kilo tt gonna be then?
I mean I guess the essence of kilo tt would be on the components spiritually speaking.

Well, like everyone else, I'll, first, dump the $1,000+ worth of upgrades into, like I said. Then after I've tired of drooling over it, put it on craigslist asking like $800, without wheels or pedals, of course, because I'll need those for my next project.

When I get done with my Kilo it will look like this:

I disagree. I don't think the Kilo TT or any of those cheap-o online build it yourself bikes are all that exciting. I have seen a few Kilo TTs in real life and I haven't seen anything that great or "boy, do I want one of those"

Totally not comparable to PBR. A Kilo would be comparable to the Trader Joe's "Vintage Ale" which is rebranded Belgian-style red ale from Unibroue (i.e. excellent). PBR would be equivalent to a serviceable entry-level bike, Eighth-Inch Scrambler or some such.

BTW the only upgrades on my Kilo are bars/grips and tires, and the tires are hand me downs from my Big Block. Total expense for my Kilo is about $460.

So, pray tell, how many really exciting complete new bikes have you seen that cost under $400 ?

I have seen some bikes on sale for under 4hundo that aren't bad but I guess I don't really many exciting bikes that cheap full price (but the Kilo is on sale too). I guess it isn't a horrible bike but I just don't get the excitement that others seem to get from it.

Mainly I am not a fan of BikesDirect they use one sort of flashy but cheap part or slogan to sell a bike "custom aero wheels" "powerful hydraulic disc brakes" "highest technology level" "Dura-Ace" (but only in the bar end shifters because that is all that exists for Shimano in 9 speed). Cheap stuff has to be sold like that because nobody wants it if they are truthful about it. However I really don't want to get into a big argument about BikesDirect.

I think they were referring to the Premium Brew
Save Up to 60% Off Track Bikes - SingleSpeed Fixed Gear Track Bikes - SE Racing Premium Brew
But I could be mistaken.

That saddle looks so plush for the beginner's bottom.

Personally, I'd rather have something used, that has some soul to it, before buying some ready made turd that popped on the scene as soon as FG bikes became a fad. Even one of the early steam rollers or the first Soma's would be nice to find and "build up". Most of the stuff from BD looks so generic and cheap, no soul, in my opinion.

I have three bd steel framed bikes that cost me between $170 and $440. To me they are simply good value basic bikes that are reasonable quality, nothing more. I also have two Soma Rush builds that are nicer, but also cost a lot more. There's no free lunch.
