Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey, I am heading down to san francisco for the weekend, I wont have my bike with me but would love to still check out stuff.... any of you locals have suggestions for places to check out/ stuff to do?

I will be free all day saturday and sunday morning ...

last time I went down there I walked around the warf and sort of randomly drove around town but I would love to hear some of your suggestions for places to go that aren't the obvius super touristy(sp?) places.

I plan to check out american cyclery ....

Dude, why don't you go on a ride with us? You can ride my beater if you promise not to wreck it. We're going to ride on Saturday then probably go get some beers....

Stuff to do:
- GG park
- SFMOMA (I can get you in free if you want)
- Go out to the Cliff house and hike on the trail out to the old lighthouse
- Zeitgeist (Duboce and Valencia)
- Pakwan (Indian/Pakistani food, my fav)
- Twin Peaks
- etc...

Looks like Judah's going to hook you up, but just in case...

Sea Otter is happening, which would be awesome to check out. Not in SF but its not too far:
https://www.seaotterclassic.com/

Or The Universe Within is in the city for a few months, though this is not for the faint of heart:
https://www.theuniversewithin.org/

If you're heading to American, you may want to swing into Amoeba which is one of the biggest record stores on the West Coast, its amazing.

For the evening:
Would recommend checking out Zeitgeist and Toranado which are two pretty dope bars.

Hemlock, Thee Parkside and Balazo Gallery are cool independent spots all with shows saturday night. Lots of local bands, generally good times are had by all. Q&Not U and The Queens of the Stone Age are also playing Sat.

Or check out Laughing Squid which is a great collection of art happenings:
