Rage consumes another bike
I was on a nature trail with one of my fixed conversions when the rear axle starting squealing sporadically - no rhythm to it. So I turned back towards home...then the bottom bracket kicked in, and I could feel some bad friction every time the right crank was down. Between this and every other stressor in my life right now, I took it upon myself to dismount the bike and attempt to fix it on the spot -- by swinging it like a baseball bat into a tree.
Had to carry it home - taco'd the rear wheel, broke the cog, bent the chain stay.
But at least I don't have to troubleshoot anything anymore.
Time for more booze, methinks.

I have 3 bikes, none are working right now. One has no cranks, the other has an exploded crank/chainring, and the last had a chain snap last night and I need an extra link to fix it (all no brakes/ burned shoes). Not enough for me to smash anything into a tree, but I seriously question the practicality of my backups.

I know not all of ya'll are Christians, and I'm no saint but:
Eph. 4.31: Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. and 5.18: And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
I confess I threw my Spectrum once when I thought a motorist was going to run us down. I was drunk. How stupid. I was lucky it was steel and could be bent back.

I'm a surprisingly mellow drunk - I get the giggle fits and nothing bothers me. No matter how much I drink, I wake up bright and early the next morning feeling refreshed and well-rested (although occassionally very dirty and missing random personal items). Blessing of the Irish, I guess.
Chunking the bike into a tree is a whole heckuva lot better than letting loose on some innocent bystander. I was just venting in a manner that wouldn't hurt anyone else. Afterwards, I felt a few pangs of remorse -- but it's not like I strangled a hooker.

Destroy a frame because the hub and BB are worn or poorly adjusted?
A waste of resources, I think.

the NY chain is good for that. all my friends give me **** for how long it takes me to lock up etc. but i bet they won't make a sound when they see that chain swinging above my head at full speed.

I think they are comprable in price but lesser quality. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try formulas or IRO hubs
