I wasn't going to go..... but Abracapocus went so I could NOT punk out like I had planned. Took the 29'er out did a few laps at the lil state forest trail about 6 miles in the dirt. Then locked the forks and rode some of the paved hills around here. About 13.5 on the pavement. Almost 20 mile ride. Was a good ride but really really muggy...
Can't hold off any longer, in the morning I'm going to steal the pump & levers off of the 29'er and test ride my touring set up (what I have so far anyway).

Yep, 20 mile test ride on the touring bike. Rode to the sleep clinic to help the nephew re-route a mess of cables and work their computers. Going to take a bit of getting used to riding with weight on the back of the bike.. But overall not a bad first ride. Well sept for the 10 miles in the rain on the way home....

Today’s ride:
Good solo ride from the house to the northern trail head. While taking a water break my friend Jim rode up so we rode together back to Panera bread. I pulled about half of the way back and we were riding at 18 to 20 mph but when he took a turn at the front I could not hold on. Jim is tall and thin and rides a very top end Trek, so me at tall and a little heavy and riding an old steel bike I wasn’t too embarrassed. I could hold on, on the flats but the little inclines took a toll on my legs and lungs.

Today’s ride:
Good ride with Dick Davidson to the horse farms. Breakfast at Panera Bread then rode through the heat. As we were leaving Panera I got crowded off to the side of the trail, the front wheel caught as I tried to correct and I went down getting a nice road rash scrape on my left knee. The people that crowded me didn’t stop or say I’m sorry, they went as if nothing had happened,

Yep, 24.64 miles in the hottest part of the day..... (remind self NOT to do that again). Half the ride was brutal HOT the last half was just hot and humid. I did have a small tail wind for most of the way from G.ville to the Grandin trail head. Good ride..
Broke my camera ... <sigh> The last ride I took (on the road bike) I thought the batteries went dead.. Put new batteries in it today.... Makes a noise to come on.... shuts right back off

Hello bike, meet butt. Butt, bike. Headed out after work with about 25 miles worth of oommph. Naturally I ended up riding 30.
Went out Millhopper Road, up 241and west on 94th toward Forest Grove. Came back down 235 and over to 39thAve. Even managed to climb the 39thAv hill over I75 without *quite* falling off the bike. Past Santa Fe College and back home. 30.5 miles at an average 15.6mph. Tired, sore and happy. i even took my phone along so I've got a couple of pictures; I'll upload 'em later.

yep, for the last 2 days now. Yesterday went to Santos on the mbs. Only the 2nd time I've been in this area. It had rained and much of the trail (root wise) was a little slippery but I managed to stay on. Not a fast ride, but just trying to get used to this single track stuff. Only yellow trails for me.
Today decided to drag out the road bike after work. We did about 13 miles on the north part of the Withlachochee from Central Ridge to the north end and back. Nice ride.
Haven't posted in a few weeks but we've been riding. Mostly the mountain bikes. Last weekend @ Manatee Springs. Camped there for the weekend. They actually have some pretty nice trails and because of the rain they were not as sandy as the last time we were there. Was great to jump in the springs afterwards too.

Ok, picture time! Had problems uploading, until I remembered that I probably ought to resize the pics to 640x480 or thereabouts...

Out on 241 west of town. Hmmm, looks like some serious weather coming from the northwest.

The sunlight on the clouds was spectacular.

Yeah, that's really starting to pile up. Best get a move on...

Yours truly, a somewhat reckless shot taken after assuring myself I was the only thing on the road in either direction!

Time to turn south on 235. Someday I hope I'll actually get to see a train while I'm out riding.

At this point in the ride I'm about blown. Naturally, I still have another 5-1/2 miles to go. Oh well, soldier on!

Off in the distance is the looming doom of the 39th Avenue Wall, the long (well, long for north Florida) steep climb up to the I-75 overpass. That was my ration of pain and suffering for this week. Crept up it at about 6mph, just enough to keep the bike upright.

That bridge over 75 used to be a big part of my training regimen: I'd blaze down it, turn around at the entrance to Countryside, then hammer back up it. Repeat 2 or 3 times, then stagger off toward home again. :-)

Yeah, it was still pretty hot when I headed out around 6:15p. Cooled down pretty quickly once the stormy weather moved in though.

Yep...... 23.73 miles on the Palatka Lake Butler trail + a lil bit on state road 100 north of Keystone. I think the wind was blowing from all directions... But for some reason didn't really bother me today.
On a side note..... I saw on a Florida DOT site that construction on the next 4.5 miles of trail is set to begin this fall. Didn't give a specific start date just said the fall of 2011..... that will make about 14.5 miles of paved trail ......

Friday - nope. Had to donate blood for my upcoming knee surgery
Saturday -nope - feeling kind puny. cat napped most of the day. Don't remember feeling that way last year after donating but anyway.
Today - yep!! Took the mtn bikes down to the 49th Ave Trailhead for Santos. Rode west to 484 (only about 4 miles) crossed over and continued west to the "hills from hell". Not sure if it was the weather or just not riding for a few days but those hills kicked my butt. Turned around before we made it to SR200. Crossed back over 484 and then checked out a new yellow trail that went back west. Coming back the hill going under 49th Ave about did me in. Had to get off about half way up and walk the bike. Overall only about 12 miles but REALLY hot. Afterwards, rewarded ourselves with a couple of lite drafts and salads. :-)

It's all because I saw a coworker out on his bike today. I got out and wound up doing 36 miles at 15.5, out toward Monteocha and the drag strip. Thanks to the NE winds I had a nice tailwind coming home. Felt good when I got home just ahead of the sunset, had some dinner, and chilled watching Stage 15 on Versus. Excellent evening. :-)

Hey look! I finally see some railroad action! Well, INaction really; those locomotives have been sitting there for several days now.

Artsy fartsy wheel-in-motion photo, or just an accidental push of the button? Even the dork on the bike doesn't know for sure! :-)

When it's not football season, the quarter milers keep the hotel rooms filled.

One of the many monster motors pumping Gainesville's water supply up from the depths.
