Chocolate and fried chicken. Gotta separate them by a day. At least I have to.
1.1 mile of riding and 1 mile of walking with a flat today.

:) I felt something was off today.
(It was a loop)

Ronno6 08-20-16 09:59 AM

21.9 miles this morning. Speed up 1/10th or so........
I'll gladly take improvement in small doses.

jimmyj726 08-20-16 11:31 AM

21.2 miles this morning. Had to work off a DQ dipped ice cream from last night. (probably need to ride twice as far)

Yep. I would do it again.:D

1.9 miles today to make up for the 2.1 miles yesterday. Now I'm even. :)
Started riding after 10:30 this morning. Nice!
Changed the toothy thingamabob between the pedals.
Now I have a 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 geared beach cruiser.
And it is much better for the area around here.
Almost feels like a real bicycle.

Not sure if I understand what you're saying.

Hi Ron,
:) Trying to make me say front 'chainring'.
Arghh, I said it.
Oh well, I'll probably never think about riding a motorcycle again.
Some of them don't have 'sprockets' anyway.
My little adventure is in the beach cruiser section under 'Granny gear on a 3 speed'.
I'll get the link and edit.

We rode North from the trailhead near Lake Townsen to just a couple of miles North of Inverness, and back, 33.5 miles in all.
Took a "refuel" break of in the shade of the covered shelter overlooking the lake at Inverness just north of the bike shop (you know the one Ron), and then headed back. Decent ride, and a little less humidity than last week, thankfully.

Happy Sunday!..
back to work tomorrow.

5 mile round trip to my LBS, TheGreatWallMart. Got sprinkled on while riding there. Saw a ghost bike to my right I don't remember seeing before. Tagged the bike rack at Walmart at seemingly a good place for people to do anything they want without too many prying eyes. All those new shiny bikes out front for sale and 3 junker bikes around the hidden corner of the building were in the rack. One had its seat off, guess the most valuable part of it.

Did my last ride for a while today. I'm having hernia surgery on Wednesday and tomorrow is prep day. I'm tired of all these surgeries interrupting my life. This one is to repair (if thats the right term) an inguinal hernia (look it up). Old people get these. Actually my surgeon said many people develop these hernias as early as 45. I guess I put this one off for 26 years. :o
Rode the Cannondale and did my usual ride from Hernando to the north end of the trail and back. The morning temps are getting a bit more comfortable. :thumb:

Praying you have a quick recovery so you can enjoy more of the nice cycling weather.

Here's wishing you a swift recovery (old boy), may you soon be back on the trail again. 👍 😊

Got in a double Sugarloaf Mtn. yesterday plus a few other uppers for 2400'+ climbing in 55 miles out of Waterfront Park in Clermont. Well worth the 150 mile drive up since around here in 55 miles I'd have less than 50' of climbing.

Ronno6 08-24-16 07:55 PM

18 today, after 3 days off...
I have been fighting a low grade infection of some sort...swollen neck glands
a throat that is not exactly sore, but not exactly not sore either......

fire 08-28-16 06:50 PM

Rode on the withlacoochie trail yesterday morning, a nice ride up 3 miles north of Inverness and then back down to Lake Townsen. We stopped at the usual place on the way back for our refuel break and then rode on and took 5 minutes at Floral City. The trail was busy, guess it won't be long before the snowbirds are here either.

I saw a guy on a litespeed as we got back to Lake Townsen, if I didn't know RonH was in dry dock, I'd have wondered if it was him.
How are you feeling Ron?

I doing ok, I guess. :o
There are several folks in the area who own Litespeeds. Ken and his wife ride Litespeed Classics and Carl has a Litespeed and comes over from Leesburg a few times a week to ride the trail.
I've also seen a newer Litespeed on the trial a time or two. Don't know that person.

Ronno6 08-30-16 04:03 PM

17.3 today after another 3 day layoff...sometimes life just gets in the way (along with hot weather.)
Feels like I am getting worse rather than better, but speed wasn't as slow as it could have been.....

Juan Foote 08-30-16 05:33 PM

Got out for a 6.5 miler yesterday evening. It was nice to be on the bike, but I could tell it had been a minute. Just started to loosen up a bit as the ride was over.
I have another new to me ride planned for tomorrow night. The local bike shop does a lighted night ride on the cart paths, slow pace ten miler. Sounds like fun so I am going to see for myself.

Glad you're doing okay buddy, every day is a day nearer to being, back to riding again. You'll be back on the bike again before you know it.

The Litespeed we saw the guy with was white (or possibly silver, kind of hard to tell as we were turning into the trailhead as he approached). It looked like a newer model. I believe I've seen both the bike and rider before.

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery. ✌

I'll be lucky if the doc lets me on the bike before Halloween. I can even drive until I see him again on Sept 12. :o
I'kinda thinking it may be closer to Thanksgiving before I can get on the bike. I can't even get on a treadmill yet, not that I even feel like it. Because of the size and location of the incision I still can't walk very fast and getting in and out of my rocking chair or recliner is a bit tricky. :twitchy:
I hope I still remember how to ride once the time comes.

I don't think I've seen that one. The newer one I have seen is black and white.

Ronno6 08-31-16 10:29 AM

Hang in there, RonH.

I pedaled my bike 16.9 miles this morning.
To have called it a "ride" would have been doing the term a disservice.
I am riding worse than I ever have as an adult.
A bit discouraging. Hopefully things will improve soon..............

One day at a time mate, one day at a time. Maybe you'll recover faster than you think, my doctor at home always advised to "do as much as you can do without it hurting", whenever I injured something. It speeds recovery, although a surgery will sort of take its own time, and there's no point in pulling any stitches out and making the recovery slower.

Sorry to hear you're out of action, maybe I'll be able to even keep up your pace for a while when you finally get back in the saddle.

I'll try and keep you posted as to how the trail is, by way of encouragement to get you riding again. 😉
