Got out for a pleasant 25 miles today. What a beautiful day!
I just took the hills as they came and didn't sweat them.
No great speeds, but a nice ride!

Sambo was back at ti this morning. He and I pedaled 25 miles with a fair northerly breeze.
Our speed was up about 1mph over what I have been dong on my own.
For as little as I have ridden this winter, I am feeling pretty good.
Maybe as the miles and speeds increase my weight will decrease! (Maybe.................)

A nice "recovery ride" for Sambo and me today.
I had not ridden 2 days in a row since mid November, so today's 30 on the heels
of yesterday's 25 is significant.
We started off easy, but of course, it didn't last.........

I finally met up with 2 guys who work at a local bank for a ride this morning.
The 4 of us (including Sambo) drove up to Hattiesburg to pedal a bit on the
Longleaf Trace. A nice fairly flat Rails-to-Trails conversion.
We had breezy conditions, but rode a nice recovery pace.
A very pleasant 30 miles w/new and old friends.

Kind of a gnarly looking, breezy day today.
I went out and did a bit over 23 miles in those conditions, worked up a sweat
even thought my intention was to take things "easy."
We all know how that never seems to work out.....

After being out of town for almost 2 weeks I finally got out on the Cannondale today. It was a nice warm day. Did my usual 22 mile route.

Took the Litespeed out today to battle the wind. Seems the wind kept changing direction whether I was riding north or south. Stopped at the north end of the trail for a snack. The trail has become heavily populated with dog walkers lately and I stepped in some dog crap when putting the wrapper from my Clif bar in the trash. Didn't see it because it was the same color as the leaves all around the can. Spent 10 minutes trying to get it out of my cleat (Speedplay).
Since the carpetbaggers don't pick up after their pets I'll be glad when they all head home.

Went for a nice 32 miler with a girl less than half my age and about half my weight.
She is a runner training for her first Boston Marathon.
Weather was breezy and threatening all ride long, and we got sprinkled on a couple of times.
But, all things considered, a good ride.

Yeah that would be bloody annoying, to say the least. 😠
I don't see so many of them south of Inverness, but certainly there seem to be more around it than there used to be. I don't go up to the citrus springs area too often, or the North end... just too far to drive to Inverness.
How have you been keeping lately, apart from having to avoid the dog $h!t, I mean?

I live near Hernando, only 11 miles from the north end. I like the south end but I have to ride thru Inverness and there are lots of walkers and non-cyclists to get thru, especially on the weekend.
I'd like to ride the Suncoast trail more often but it's not close.

Sambo and I got out for 22 miles yesterday. We kept it short and the pace light as he had not ridden in 2 weeks.
Felt pretty good while riding; even better when we were done! (Funny how that works....)

Rode with my buddies today, mtb ride for 8 miles in 3" of hard snow. It was 13* out, which didn't matters any. Fat bike March madness!

Hello NYMXer. Did you click on Southeast by mistake when you meant to click on Northeast?

The winter temps finally warmed up enough so I could ride today. It was a balmy 57F when I got to the Withlacoochee Trail. Did my usual 22 mile ride from Hernando to the north end and back.

As I had not ridden in 10 days, my mantra for today was...easy.
So, a solo 20 today that included ascending all the way up the longest grade in my area. I usually go about half way up and reverse course, but today I thought what the heck. I found that at 8-9mph I can climb up it without too much effort (that may come later...) Average was OK for a solo ride. I need to get out more now that the temps are up, but we usually see some pretty unrelenting stiff winds here in March.........

It was a gorgeous day on the Withlacoochee Trail so I had to get out and ride. I only saw one dog walker so maybe the Withlacoochee Trail will be a bike trail again (rather than Florida's largest dog park) until next fall when the yankees come back with their dogs.
Rode the Cannondale and did a slight variation of my usual route for 24.5 miles.

A beautiful but breezy afternoon for a ride, so I got out for a 20 miler with the Banker Boyz.
That translates to a more relaxed pace than normal, but, as it has been downright difficult to motivate
myself to get out and ride solo (my usual riding buddy seems to have got himself a JOB,)
today's spin was better than sitting at home...........

Thunderstorms and tornados moved thru here last night. I thought the Withlacoochee Trail would be littered with leaves and small branches but the "blower truck" was out early. He passed me heading south as I was riding north from Hernando to the north end. He had already driven north snd turned around.
The wind was fierce so I had to HTFU. Did my usual ride to the north end and back.
Had a great ride (nice tail wind) back to the car.

Had a different start to today's ride. Aired up the tires on the Litespeed and put it in the back of the Santa Fe Sport and headed for the Withlacoochee Trail. When I pulled the bike out I found the rear tire was flatter than flat. So I put in back in the car and drove home. Aired up the tires on the Cannondale and loaded in the car. Got to the trail and was happy there were no surprises.
Rode from Hernando to the north end and back. I did make an unusual discovery. I've been having problems with my front fork speed sensor not always working for a few weeks. I replaced the battery last week and it seemed to fix the problem. Today it wasn't working again. After playing around with the sensor position (while stopped along the trail) I got it working. When I got home I did a quick comparison of the magnet's strength with the magnet on the Litespeed. The magnet on the Cannondale was very weak. The magnet on the Litespeed was like a new magnet. Luckily I have extra wheel magnets to replace the bad one. Problem solved.

Well, another year, another late start... Got a few miles in around Hoggetowne last Saturday before the allergies drowned me. Today was "bite off more than you can chew this early in the season" day - 26 and change miles from the inlaws', up the Pinellas Trail and out Dunedin Causeway to Honeymoon Island and back. Low points: back spasms before riding, two flats before even leaving the garage and one on the road in Dunedin. Note to self - wirebrush all the spoke holes in both rims and replace the Velox tape ASAP! Burrs on a spoke hole caused at least one of the flats. The wind was also following the Greg LeMond Florida Riding Principle: No matter what direction you ride, you got a headwind! High points: lemon pound cake from Starbucks makes a great energy bar, and the azeleas were blooming along the trail. Very colorful. Anyhow, ride's done, and I'm sitting here banging away at the keyboard with an icepack wedged twixt my back and the chair. Happy Saturday!

Got out again today, and again got tricked by the omnidirectional headwinds. Did right about 32 miles, down the trail to Pasadena, then up Gulf Blvd to Park and back to the trail. I'm *so* tired right now, trying desperately to stay awake long enough to eat some of the awesome spread the wife is laying out before we head home. She's gonna be driving, 'cause I'll be sawing logs!

Saddle time has been pretty sparse lately, mostly due to lack of motivation to ride alone.
After about a 2 week hiatus I rode a whopping 11 flat miles while at my daughter's in Texas last Tuesday.
Then, my riding buddy Sambo and I went for 22 on Saturday.
Not feeling too bad, all things considered, but my fanny objected just a tad......
