Nice, nice.
When I say I dream of Greenways, what I mean is to be used as in for commuting and touring. As crowded as I've seen the Jax-Baldwin Trail, I don't think I want to do 20 mph + with all those randum people. I like the idea of traveling nearly uninterupted from city to city with little car traffic to worry about. |

32.3 miles today 231.1 miles this month 4779 miles this year 155 ride days LY vs. 154 ride days TY 2720 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles) I am @ 63.7% of my goal. 69% of the year has passed 76 miles ahead of last year at this date Motivation meter today 10.0 :thumb:on a scale of 1-10 Good solo ride today. Temps in the mid 70s to mid 80s. However the humidity was very high again today but little wind to contend with. I did my usual ride on the Seminole Wekiva Trail to Panera Bread for breakfast then did a loop through Mandarin Estates to add on some mileage, this loop takes me over close to I-4 and today I saw a hot air balloon coming down in a field next to the interstate. I was able to get my bike within about 20 yards of there touchdown. I had a nice conversation with them and was hoping that they would offer me a ride, but that didn't happen. |
I did 30.7 miles today. :( I was planning on doing at least 40 miles. I didn't have much energy during the entire ride. When I got home I mentioned this to my wife and she reminded me that I didn't eat very much yesterday. Hmm. I don't remember that. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day --- 9/11 so I'll have to dig out an appropriate jersey.

Slo Spoke, you don't see that every day. Thanks for sharing!
RonH, I've felt a little off the last week. I think the fall allergy season has started. Yay. Yes! I did a couple of 5 mile trips on my new ride: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/...fc8ce0e789.jpg It's definitely a different experience than riding my commuter. It's so light it feels like I'm riding a flying carpet. Well, one that I have to work to make go. The rough roads around here weren't as hard as I thought they'd be. Really didn't feel a ton different than my other bike. The seat and I still need to make friends. It's already been adjusted twice. Hopefully one more will do it. Just need to nudge the nose down a little bit more. Also, does anyone else notice cars treating them differently on a road bike than..something else? Usually cars give me space but it seemed like they were crowding me a lot more on this bike. Maybe it was just angry Friday afternoon traffic. |

abracapocus ... BIG congrats on the new bike!!! I still can't believe how much better your photo looks than the one on craigslist... I don't really notice much of a difference riding my mountain bike on the road or my road bike. Well sept I go faster on the road bike LOL And when I say I go faster, its still really not that fast :D Do I see clipless pedals in your future now?
Slo Spoke... Very cool pictures. Years ago I got to be a part of a chase car for a balloon. Got to help launch it and take it back down when they landed. The deal was be a part of the chase car for 5 chases and then get a free ride. I did 3 chases and then lost contact with the guy that new the owners of the balloon. So I never did get my free ride. But it still was really cool and fun just chasing. Yep I did get out for a ride today... Left at about 5:30pm and it was STILL HOT & MUGGY... Said 94deg at the hardware when I went by on the way out. (forgot to look on the way back). NO wind & did I mention very muggy.. Ended up riding 25.03 miles. Just added a bit to my normal ride. Had the camera with me but didn't really see anything of note to take a picture of. So I took one of the sun in my face for the 8 miles back..... DOH! Attachment 169192 |

31.2 miles today 262.3 miles this month 4810 miles this year 156 ride days LY vs. 155 ride days TY 2689 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles) I am @ 64.1% of my goal. 69% of the year has passed 71 miles ahead of last year at this date Motivation meter today 10.0 :thumb:on a scale of 1-10 I arrived at the San Sebastian Trilhead at the same time as about 20 of the Florida Recyclers Bike Club did today. They asked me if I wanted to ride with them so I accepted and we had a great ride. They ride a Little faster than I do and don't stop for breakfast but I was able to hold my own with them although I missed my breakfast bagel. The weather was perfect again today but the humidity was pretty high. I might do some additional rides with this group, they wer really friendly folks. abracapocus... nice looking ride, I see clipless and aero bars next  |
Thought about doing my usual Stone Mtn ride. Got to SM and saw that its Yellow Daisy Festival time. The place was overrun with people. Too crowded to ride so I went home. :bang: Wow. Did a whopping 22 miles. :notamused:

Had a great ride from Amelia Island to Fernandina Beach, and into Clincher State Park. It was gorgeous!

I love seeing everybody's rides!
I rode this morning, did 38.8 miles total. Left my house, went through a nice neighborhood to the city park, rode down LA 1 along bayou Lafourche (where I grew up) and took a parish bypass road through the swamp to highway 24... then turned around and came all the way back. I tried to ride with a local group ride, but they had changed the starting time, and since they were starting from the park, I got there about 30 minutes too late. I ran into them before I got to the turnaround, and tried like crazy to catch them on the way back... I made up some time, and averaged 14MPH on the fully loaded mountain bike (rack, bags, fenders, lights, battery) which is FAST for me... but I never caught the group. :) |

Oh, and are you going to St Augustine for the Endless Summer Watermelon Ride? I'll be there sporting my About Bicycles kit and going for the full century. There are shorter routes too, 30 miles to Marineland and back, 53 and 69 miles over to SR 13 and back. And the century goes into Switzerland, Palm Valley, Vilano Beach, past the Castillio de San Marcos and over the Bridge of Lions onto Anastacia Island. |

I do believe that is Fort Clinch State Park but, I'll forgive you since your memory was likely affected by the milage. The NFBC Tour de Forts goes through there every year.

Thanks but, I'm not that good, yet. I hope that I can be more inspirational to everyone else, I'm just riding my bike. HARD. It's not how everyone has to ride, do your own thing. I'm just fortunate enough to work in a shop for an owner who has been riding hard and fast and racing for like 30 years.
Today I got dropped around 40 miles in at an average speed of 25+ mph. I'd done too much work helping the pace and just couldn't hang any more. I basicly rode from there to a SAG stop about 50 miles in and another 23 miles further. Where my old boss from 10 years ago was working. It wasn't bad. The centuries here run along the ocean, and this year the winds were out of the southeast. That made the Tour de Forts fast and today arduous.
I work for Kent Lofton at About Bicycles. We'll be headed back down to Clermont for the Horrible 100 this year. Working on refiguring out how to post photos. Here's my take on recovery food. |

That is resident hipster Kyle, I'm the 2 pics above.
Look for the AB kit at the HH. We'll bring a group down. |
53 miles today, my usual Sunday morning group ride, hot but no rain. Nice ride with nice people.

Cool pics Slo Spoke....
I got out for a ride today with the goal of riding 30 miles (opened mouth in other thread LOL). After about 10 miles in the 12-15mph headwind I was wondering why I had set a goal of 30 miles ... DOH!! I had the camera today but there wasn't anything of interest to take pictures of... Strange thing did happen though.... I was riding in the bike like on the 4 lane divided highway and a truck pulls up next to me, slows down and says "Hey do you have a laptop bag for sale"... Mind you they are going about the same speed as me 13.5 mph (stupid headwind).. I was like "yeah I got one I can sell".... Told em 10 bucks... I'm the "computer guy" in the small town I live in.. So I always have some kind of junk ... LOL ... Anyway was kind of weird.... Ended up riding 30.10 miles.. 15 of headwind... and 15 of tailwind, although it wasn't as strong towards the end of the ride. Felt bad most of the ride... but wanted to get the odometer to 5K ..... Was at 4k on July 3.... So thousand miles since then (plus some on the mountain bike).... pic of the odometer at 5k Attachment 169615 |
droobieinop: great photos of the ride Sunday. :thumb:I am going to make a point to do that ride next year.

Did 34 miles today. I'm getting tired of traffic limiting how far I can ride. :crash: It's gotten so bad that I'm doing multiple loops around and through neighborhoods just to up my mileage. #$%&* motorists.
