Sinuses have been giving me fits, and there've been other time pressures (joys of landlording when the plumbing is ancient ). Last night I had the bike all apart, cleaning, lubing, tweaking, rewrapping the bars, etc., for the Santa Fe ride on Saturday. Hasn't looked this good in a couple of years. Hoping to get out for a couple hours after work today.

I'll ride in rain, but severe thunder storms with a tornado watch? No thanks. Bummed since I didn't ride yesterday either. At least I've taken Thurs. & Fri. off so I have more opportunity to get in some good rides.

I hate it when riding buddies bail on you!! Had it happen Saturday too, after I spent all Friday evening getting his bike adjusted and rideable.
Thursday my wife worked at night, Friday was horribly foggy, Saturday my buddy bailed, Sunday it rained...

But I rode this morning!

I haven't ridden in weeks and I feel terrible about it, but a whole bunch of stuff seems to converge at this time of year to keep me off the bike: home maintenance projects, shorter days, baseball playoffs, NFL season, Oktoberfest beers, and funky weather have all kept me around the house. I may just bag on this season and set up the indoor trainer.

Weird. This morning I had a vague feeling that I shouldn't ride today. So I planned on driving. When I got out of the shower they announced tornado warning (or watch, I always get those confused.)

It was wild. I had planned to ride, but then the news kept showing the storm cells around my area, so I decided not to chance it. I still had to ride the 2 miles home, and the wind was just insane. I know we need the rain, but I need to ride. I am hoping tomorrow is good. I did 35 minutes on the rollers on Monday.................boring.

too busy
too lazy
I skinned my shin
bike is behind other stuff in my basement
headlight battery isn't charged
tires aren't pumped
just moved don't know where my clothing is
need to look for a job

hopefully one or more of these excuses will dwindle away enough for me to break away

It was pretty gusty on the ride home Tuesday, but not really scary or anything. Maybe riding a 35# bike helps. Also, I was mostly spared headwinds.

Wicked storm rolling in about the time I needed to leave for work. Drove and glad I did. Almost got blown off the road in my 4Runner by a gust as the storm hit me about halfway to work.

Haven't ridden since Thursday. Busy, busy, busy, exhausted, hungover, rain. I think that covers each day. :-) Plan to ride to work tomorrow though.

Haven't been able to ride much. 2 weeks ago hubby had a bad accident on his mb. He was at Santos and was about 6 miles in (by himself) came off a small jump, hit a root and went head over. He got wrapped up in his bike and had a hard time getting up. Thankfully he had on his helmet but he said that he thinks he was going into shock but made himself walk back to his truck. After numerous doctor appointments, cat scans and finally an MRI, they decided on surgery. Yesterday he had rotator cuff surgery. The surgeon wasn't sure he would be able to reattach it but after the 3rd try, it worked. He also had some tendon and muscles that were damaged as well as alot of arthritis in the shoulder. I think it will be awhile before hubby is back on his bike. I'm just happy that he didn't do any more damage than he did.
When I'm not working or taking care of him, I've been going to the gym and spinning or riding the recumbent and I know that doesn't count as riding but I'm trying to continue to exercise my new knee. Trying to get in at least 8-10 miles 3 or 4 times a week. I've also been riding my mb around our property. We have a little over 3 acres and we have a trail that goes around it. So, I've been trying to ride for at least 30 mintues for the cardio.
well, all of the above are my excuses...unfortunately...
This is hubby at Pruitt Trailhead back a few months ago.

I had a minor operation this past Friday and my doctor told me not to get my heart rate up until after he sees me again. He sees me tomorrow at 11. By 2 tomorrow I will be back on my bike.

LindaN.. Wow ..... Not really sure what to say other than the whole situation sucks!! You guys only got a few rides in together after your surgery before your husband got hurt. But even with everything on your plate you've been doing WAY more than I have recently. Today (Wednesday) was my first ride in 9 days.. I didn't post in this thread that I wasn't riding because all of my excuses were just lame....

I hope you continue to keep at it and your husband has a speedy recovery!!!!
