Bikes: ROAD MOUNTAIN

Suggest a destination

Hello,

I live in Southern Illinois and have a Spring break in mid March. My wife and I are thinking of taking a bike trip somewhere warmer. I'd perfer more mountainous terrain and she'd like flat or rolling, so we'll probably go somewhere flat or rolling.

I'd like to find some information for where ever we go like cue sheets, and it'd be nice if it was somewhat touristy, or at least she'd like that.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Central Florida (warmer weather), spend a few days riding The Withlacooshee Trail (flat), The West Orange Trail (small hills), The Van Fleet Trail (wilderness), all with in a short drive of Disney (touristy). If you don't mind riding on the road Claremont just west of Orlando is perfect. For some route maps go to the Florida Freewheelers site they have loads of maps.

Thanks,

That's pretty funny becasue when I first brought this up my wife said, lets go to Florida we can go to Disney Land. I didn't like that idea so I said I was going to post and ask for an alternative. Now she thinks its destiny we go to Florida.

I'm thinking more Gulf coast area.

Think about St. Pete Clearwater area, you are close to the Pinellas Trail (very nice trail) and The Sun Coast Trail, and The Legacy Trail in Sarasota is a great ride. Ft Desoto in south St Pete you can combine a nice ride along the coast and a day at the beach and walk around an old Fort at the same time. Still just a 2 hr drive from Disney and a hour and a half from the Withlacoochee Trail and the James Van Fleet Trail

lots of great group rides & trails here in St Pete, plus only 1.5hrs to Disney by car.
