Central Fla Rails to Trails Tour

Headed out on a 4-5 day tour of Central Fl rails to trails route. Roughly 250 miles that incorporates the Auburndale Trail, James Van Fleet, Withlacoochee, Suncoast, and Pinellas Trail. Probably some "stealth" camping a couple of nights and State/Regional camping at Silver Lake State Park off the Withlacoochee and a night at Jay B Starkey Wilderness Park off the Suncoast Trail. Easy pace ride of no more than 60 miles/day. End up at the rest area on the north end of the Skyway where wife will pick me up. If you have any interest in either part or all of the ride drop me an email. Plan on leaving Feb 12th if the weather cooperates. Attached is a rough route of trip.

Mike

Mike, sounds like a good trip, if you come a little further east and hit any of the West Orange Trail let me know I could connect with you and get some miles in with you. I have ridden all of the trails you list so I know you are going to have a good trip. I hope the weather cooperates. Best of luck.

Jim, Thanks for the reply. Did this same trip last year minus a few route changes and enjoyed it immensely. Probably will be an annual event. It would be nice if they tied in the West Orange Trail but given the current economic enviroment probably never see it.

You are probably correct about us never seeing the trails linked up. I keep hoping but the way things are headed I don't think it will happen. You are going to be on some great trails although the James Van Fleet is not at the top of my list the Withlacoochee Trail is one of the best. Lots to see on that trail including a camel.

Route link should be open now. I unlocked it on Map my Ride. The displayed route is not correct in some areas such as through Lakeland, Brooksville and the route between JB starkey Wilderness area and the Pinellas trail. Used auto routing. I have my routes but did not want to take the time to detail it on the maps. In most cases contacted locals for best route through high traffic areas.......

Still locked. Map my ride is a bit finicky.
Hover over routes and you will get a drop down.
Pick "my Routes" and that will give you a list of routes.
You will see a Pad lock next to the route names. Click the padlock till it shows open.
Click the route next to the pad lock so you can view it.

Thats the URL people will need to view it without being a friend.
