The deed is done.

We've been looking around and trying to decide about a house. We decided that the house we're in is just too big for us and would be too much work to clean and maintain.
So today we took the plunge and bought a house in Brentwood in Citrus Hills (just west of Hernando, FL). Its about 6+ miles from the Withlacoochee Trail (Hernando trailhead). I can ride my bike to the trail and by the time I get there I'll be warmed up and ready for some "hard riding".
Its about 19 miles to the Suncoast Trail.
But the house has to be built first (we were told 6-8 months). We just picked the lot and house we wanted today -- and paid the down payment $$$$$$. We'll be in *****assa (in the BIG house) till the house is finished.
I'll keep you posted.

Glad to hear you have found a place, Ron. We'll be by with the Pie later on.

Hi Brad.
The top end of the Suncoast Trail has rollers that are much like the road from Decatur to Stone Mtn and also like the road around the mtn, except for heart attack hill. Todays short 25+ mile ride included 476 feet of climbing.
The Withlacoochee Trail is another story -- maybe 100 feet of climbing over 40 miles.

Come on down and enjoy the warm sunshine -- low 80s today.

Congratulations!! I'm sure one of these days we will run into you on the Withlacochee. Hubby and I ride it almost every weekend. I don't know if you've been on the Gainesville/Hawthorne trail yet but there are some nice hills on the Gainesville side. You'll have to check out the Withlachochee Bay trail as well. It's just north of Crystal River and not long but the new east side has some nice hills. Only about 12 miles total but one of the most scenic...IMHO.

No pics of the lot other than an aerial view that is on MapQuest or Google maps.
Here's the house plan. --> https://www.brentwoodflorida.com/pdf/...n_mckinley.pdf
We selected design B and the floor plan is flipped so the garage is on the left, like this.

Lol, funny enough we have been looking at some homes in *****assa as well. Money seems to go a good way towards a nice house in that area. We have been looking in Sugarmill Woods.

^^^ The folks who own the house we're in moved to Sugarmill when they moved down here from Lawrenceville. Had to get out after 2-3 years. Didn't like some of the neighbors. The house we're in is next to the "edge of the world". Its just under 3000 sq ft, 2 BR, 2 bath, huge kitchen, huge great room, big enclosed sunporch, big 2 car garage, high ceilings throughout and very high ceilings in the GR. It will be available for sale once our house is built and we move out.
Here's the map location if you're interested.

Sounds good. Maybe someone can set up a date for a ride with all the other BF members in the area.
