because I have finally accepted that it might be the shoes and not the 4 different types of pedals that I believed were causing me hot spots.

and because of the 7-9AM 20% off sale at Performance I got these bad boys for $32...

I had hot spots on my SIDI's, to the point where I would take of the shoes and pour water on my feet:eek:
Then I chucked the stock SIDI insert and got these;
http://planocycling.com/itemdetails....gId=39&id=4632

Now, NO hot foot, and much better power. The stock SIDI are a POS. $45 well spent!
Be sure to go to a specialized dealer for the correct insert. I purchased mine at Surf City cyclery.

I have the Cat1 Gavia Carbon, which looks like the same shoe except it has the ratchety-thing on the side. I like them, but have only used them in combination with my new SPD-SL pedals. And I also changed out the insole for one with more arch support to help deal with an on-and-off bout of plantar fasciitis.

It will be matchy matchy. It just says Shimano on it.

Tiff,
I have virtually every pedal style (no eggbeater), so if you want to try other pedals out without buying them let me know.

Mark,
They did not have the Gavia in my size and these (Galibier) ended up being $60...

I got the Superfeet insert...was ok...but still not good...I actually have custom orthotics I use now...still some issues...but I have been trying some cleat positioning adjustments and it was definitely better today...still need to ride some more with these new adjustments to see

Thanks Phil! :D

James let me borrow his Eggbeaters and I really liked them... think my plan for now is to get those. But I'll keep this in mind if they end up not working for me in the future! :)

For MTB? (I am too lazy to read.)

Performance had the SLK compact for $340.

Oh, Tiffanie...did you ever get a compact crank? Here is one that would suit you perfectly. If you don't want it, I will probably pick it up for the chainrings.

Oh wow, that's cheap! I've had my eye on one at eBay but it was twice as much as this one. How can there be such a significant price difference for the same item? http://server12.ipslink.com/~wwwmama...ault/dunno.gif

Thanks for the heads up... however, I don't think I'll be able to get to it before the auction ends. :)

Must be a typo on the price. And it's spelled T-O-U-P-E.
