BigSean: Thanks for the link! I'm trying to keep my frame dreams in the affordable range, and sadly, affordable for me is sub$800.

Ahhh dang, those Leopards are sweet looking bikes. I almost bought one and ended up with the Madone instead.

Mo'Phat 11-28-06 04:13 PM

Nice that I post a $600 frame and you suggest a $2500 one. I like your style.

However, if I did have $2500 to blow on a frame, my allegiance is to Litespeed.

Is your stem for an oversized handlebar (31.8mm)? and do you know the rise angle?

That's the thing...I don't hate it. I do, in fact, love it. I love the paint, the shape, the styling, the weight, the whole shebang. Only problem is that after about 10 miles (no matter what I do in terms of adjustments to the saddle or stem flippage/raisage), I get this awful neck pain.

I call it a clown bike because it looks proportionally small to me. Maybe I'm wrong. I know there's plenty of pro riders who ride miniscule frames and compensate with a monster stem and a setback seatpost.

The stem I have is
120mm
6* rise
25.4mm bars
183grams

Thing you can do right now for free, flip your stem, drop it a few spacers on the fork, I saw you had some room to play with, push the seat foward a lil or back a lil. Adjust location of the hoods, ect

...damn that $20 off coupon at performance!

Just ordered a pair of Hutchinson Fusion Comp Road Tires...

I am going to have to play with the cleat position a little, and I did purchase the Dr. Scholl's 'Working' insole made with memory foam (I found that the gel is horrible for long rides), but I really like the new shoes. I did have a slight amount of pain on the Pie Ride, but nothing like normal! Now I am just bummed that I blew $400 on pedals over the past year and a half...

I am using the Campy Chorus pedals that are a 'Look' style system. However I have a pair of speedplays, single sided titanium SPD's, and Forte 'Look' style that people can pick up for CHEAP!

I'll use the MTB shoes this weekend :D

and

http://www.caligurl.com/wordpress/wp.../XD%20card.jpg

yes.... it's cycling related! hubby wanted a camera to replace the one i... uhm.... borrowed from him several months back.... then it broke... i replaced it... but kept the replacement as my "own" cycling camera..... so now he has one so he can take pics on rides, too!

i didn't get the sunglasses yet.... we went to the oakley store in cabazon and they didn't have them  so i think i'll ask the LBS to order them....

the pink jacket was on backorder.... so i put my work addy.... well... they came in last week and it was delivered yesterday.... to WORK! but i'm home

i've been wearing the sugar shorts... the jury is still out.... i think the performance ultras are a way more comfy chamois.... BUT... the old version/material do not stay down on leg warmers.... the sugar shorts, since they have grippers.... stay down.... but the chamois isn't so great..... (doable for shorter rides... i definitely wouldn't attempt a metric or century in them!)

the red century jersey.... not sure i'm keeping it.... it's.... uhm..... cheap looking... and with all the jerseys i have... it's not like i NEED it..... so i may return that!

the two mtb-ing jerseys for hubby are nice!

and the ear covers... well.. they are standard ear covers! lol! i already had some and knew i liked them... just wanted more so i didn' have to wear blue ones or do laundry just cuz i ran out of black  OCP comment!

Got a topeak sprint floor pump , a PI headband and PI shoe covers over the weekend (20% off performance sale). The cashier lineup was crazy with a 30mins wait.

Non-bike related: Upgraded my cell phone to LG vx8600 (verizon), and got a portable car GPS nav. Now I won't get lost as easily when driving to bike rides. :D

All my Performance orders came in today except for the backordered gels which should be here in a couple of days. Not bad for free shipping which took less than a week, considering the holiday weekend and all.....actually, I'm impressed. :)

caligurl 11-28-06 10:53 PM

that's actually very good for performance! (the shipping was free for team performance members too... AND they still allowed the 2 day fedex upgrade for free! a lot of times for free we have to suffer through the ground shipping!)

they (performance) spent so much extra money on shipping.... they should have just let us do one order with the 40% off and they would have saved at least on shipping (i think my total was 11 or 12 orders! YIKES!)

mrdick 11-28-06 11:52 PM

FYI: starting tomorrow, Performance is going to have 10% off everything including bikes, in-store, off the lowest marked price. :)

My new DVD player from Buy.com just arrived. Actually it was tossed over the fence onto my patio but seems to have survived.

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...V35822029_.jpg

I've been looking for something that plays PAL dvd's as well as Divx files and this fits the bill. No USB port like some of their other models, but I can burn a file to a cd about as quickly as dumping it to a USB drive. Nice looking picture and now I can watch all those PAL dvd's i've been gathering.

Has anybody gone to B&L Bikes in San Diego (on Camino Del Rio West off of Rosecrans)? How's their clothing selection? I hate driving to a store to find they have a meager selection after checking out the website and you can get anything. B&L doesn't have inventory, so I was hoping to get a feel for the place before I drove all the way out there.

Anyone?

Gretzky 12-02-06 07:29 PM

You know, this WILL make you faster, don't you?:D

I think new wheels aren't far behind!

Thanks :) I just could not get the FSA's dialed in. The reach was just not working out. I even tried going from a 110 stem to a 100, and still did not feel right.. So after much tinkering, back to what works (110 Stem, and Bontrager bars with less reach).
