Went to the LBS today. Bought my son a Cannondale CAAD 9 (Optimo3) and ordered a Serotta track bike for my daughter. My wife was most impressed that I did not spend a dime on myself.

Maybe for Breathless Agony, Vivian will have bar tape white as snow. Or maybe I'll wait until Grand Tour.

Nonsense. It serves an aerodynamic function, smoothing out the bar/brifter interface. Okay, maybe not. And Vivian is supposed to be my lightweight climbing bike, with not one gram dedicated to aerodynamics. Umm... did you just call her fat? I wonder what she weighs, anyway. I'm pretty sure she's in the mid-15's somewhere.

No, no, not calling Vivian fat. Its a known fact that black bar tape is faster.

Now you tell me! No wonder I've been getting slower. It's not that I haven't been riding enough. It's that my bar tape is the wrong color!

You should try Fizik white bar tape. It's 100x easier to keep clean than Deda.

Today was tire awareness day for me.
Had to repair a flat the other day and realized that;
1) I only had a couple tubes left, and both needed to have patches put on
2) Only had a couple patches left
3) My tires are pretty worn

The Conti 4000 have been recomended a couple of times, by people I'm rinding with,
so that's what I went for.

So off I went and picked up these. They are 23's instead of 25's, so i figure
the ride will be rougher, but I'll be faster. A trade off.
Will be installing before my next ride!!

Why did you get the folding tires? I've been thinking about getting a couple to carry in my car when I go on rides but I've never used them.

No reason, it's what they had.
Didn't know I had a choice.

Any pro's/cons?

Gretzky, you still doin' BB once in a while?
Haven't run into you, but not sure I'd recognize you w/o the
BF jersey!

Had a great ride with Jaguar , twice around BB then up the
trail to Dedrichs for some expresso.
Great ride, did around 40 mi.

Oh yeah! Twice on Saturday (Jax2Jax4Joe Ride), and on every Sunday (club recovery ride). We are usually on BB around 8:30am every Sunday. Hope to see you soon!
BTW, you can always look for my red spokes

How's the light output?
Would it work if caught out after dark, but not a "night "ride?
Or maybe for a night ride?

Info, more info!

Just ordered it today...but its listed as 10 watts but is really a 15 watter...
All I had before was a 1 watt...fine for streets...but not a real night ride
I am hoping this will be good enough to do Griffith Park...

hereandthere said
I've used it a couple times on my early morning rec. rides and I like the light a lot. It throws enough light for me to see on pitch black roads...though I would like more light on these roads (who wouldn't) there is enough of it that I can ride comfortably.

I forgot my Cat-Eye Astral 8 computer for the Jax2Jax ride and couldn't find it when I got home.

I now know that this is the most glaringly obvious sign from above/god/heaven/buddah/allah that I should just upgrade to this:

As previous posts on this thread suggested, I ordered from https://www.geomangear.com/ at a kick ass price.

Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week!

I bought this to replace my new ToC jersey that got too close to the asphalt. I wore it Saturday without even realizing it was St. Patrick's Day. Fortunately, no corned beef and cabbage was thrown at me.

woo hoo! The more garmins out there, the better the software support will be! Looks like there are several new garmins in the crew, getting just about time to kick up a new Garmin thread.

I use the Planet Bike light (identical to Herb's) for the Griffith Park night rides and all of my doubles...

I am slowly getting used to my Garmin, and every ride is a cool new discovery! I ended up swapping my old 35mm camera for a second speed/cadence sensor. Now my MTB is gonna be hooked up!

Oh you... You had me thinking "Sweet! Then I can pick up the 305 for a substantial discount!" until I read the fine print.
