I was waiting for you to decide. I will start from the Commons but can't remember when I started last year. It's a long ride so I guess 7:30 would be about right.

So does 7:30 sound ok? I think that gives us the best chance of meeting up with those who start at 6:30. Who is in ?

Don't wait on me, I was waiting for you to decide when and where. I was still thinking about going to the actual start like last year, but the 6:30 start time that everyone is doing is a bit extreme. I was also waiting to hear from Vicki, Orrie, and Deb. So it's 7:30 at the Commons?

O.K., you talked me into it. See you at 7:30. The other ladies are starting from the Commons at 8:00 because they want to avoid joining the P.U. ride.

I'm still holding out hope for a change (forecast seems to change daily), but if the rain sticks around Saturday, anyone up for long-ish ride on Sunday instead?

Absolutely. I'll use Saturday for the household chores.
What have you got in mind?

I'm the newb, I just follow. I'll ask around to see if there is anything brewing, in the meantime, what would your suggestion be if it stays cool, cloudy, and windy-ish?

This Saturday 8 SFVBC members are going to San Luis Obispo via Amtrak and riding back in 5 days, (with side trips). They include Deb, Orrie, Vicki, Cathy, Tom, John, Joel, and me. Got the touring bike loaded and I can't wait!

Saturday, if there's time, a short ride around SLO, Sunday a loop up to Morro Bay and back to Pismo. Monday Pismo to Solvang via Foxen Canyon, with a Drum Canyon option. Tuesday to Carpinteria and Wednesday home.
My friend Mike has done these routes many times and knows the best roads. He also has a program in his computer to create route slips and was kind enough to make us some cool slips, along with color maps.

I'm all packed up and ready to go, except I can't decide on what shoes to bring. All my shoes are too heavy and I hate flip flops. I was thinking of not bringing any extra shoes and just wearing the bike shoes with cleat covers. Is that going to work or I'm I going to walking around barefoot.

I did that in Sept of 2005. I miss camping out on State Beaches.....so peaceful. Enjoy your trip!....(oh, and that long grind up and out of Lompoc)....

VG, if it were me, I would definitely bring another pair of shoes. Walking around penguin style will not be fun. And, it is probably supposed to be a casual fun trip, who cares about the extra weight?

Too heavy! That's funny. My total load,(me, bike, stuff), will be around 250-260 lbs depending on water. Your total load will be 100 lbs less than that. Would you like me to carry your shoes?

Alright, I figure on carrying my shoes. Now I can't decide on jerseys. Should I bring just one or should I bring a sleeveless jersey also. It might be hot. Boy this is hard packing when there is so little room.

Sorry, no laptop. VG, do you want me to bring a handlebar bag for you? It's not very big, but you can carry some stuff in it.
