If your live in Irvine, and don't want to be found just say
"look for the beige house, and that's where I live".

You do realize there are 100 of shades of beige... you can say, it's the mushroomy beige house, or the dusty beige, or Indian white or sand or... you get the picture... Irvine is pretty in beige!!!

Here's another reason we're better than Irvine - We have environmentally friendly shopping carts instead of those gas sucking Hummers or Land Rovers parked in front of our houses.

The only time I have had a bike stolen as an adult was in the Woodbridge part of Irvine. Cops figured it was a HS student. BCI(pam) as in Bicycle Club of Irvine, right? a friendly social club. I had member number 396. Are Bill and Dev Selin still active in the club. He was an Irvine city employee and could not afford to live in Irvine. He and Dev moved to Tustin too.

I can undestand an Irvine person not liking Tustin. Here in Tustin the homes are mostly custom built different looking not all cookie cutter large houses and small lots. Homes here actually have =gasp= yards!!! I know you lucky Irvine folks don't like to do yard work. Good thing, cause not worth pulling out the lawn mower for a postage stamp piece of property. Oh yeah, our house can be different colors - not white, off white, brown-white, white. You can actually see homes of blue, green, brown etc in Tustin. Mmm let see, yeah, housing is affordable. I pay less for gas and groceries. I don't get hassled by the police for riding my bike. And my friends and family don't get lost trying to find my house in small weird cloverleaf shaped neighborhoods.
But yes, I don't an "Irvine" address so I admit, I am but a poor peone!
you know I jest cause I care!

So...I made the point of comparing Irvine people to the others in South County because you posted how great Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, and Dana Point are (also South County). Plenty of stuffy people in those places too but for the most part I think all of these cities are filled with generally good people. I believe you've made several generalizations about Irvine and the people in it that are based on incorrect facts.
Irvine is a big place with lots of different types of neighborhoods providing many different features (yes, including yards, houses painted colors other than those you listed, etc.). Of course, not everyone has the same tastes. There are those who would prefer to use their square footage for their houses...where they spend the majority of their home time...rather than a clump of grass that soaks up the ever-dwindling So Cal water supply. Why criticize people (or the town for that matter) for that?
Please enjoy your 3 cents less per gallon and your groceries that you have deluded yourself into thinking cost less. In the meantime, I'll head out and see if I can find a police officer to hassle me for riding my bike. It's been 16 years and I have yet to find one but if you say they're out there, they must be. Maybe they're tied up trying to help your family and friends find their ways out of those weird cloverleaf neighborhoods. Sounds like some real rocket scientists you got there!!!
I can't wait until they open the Irvine Chick-Fil-A, that will pretty much eliminate any need for me to go to Tustin.

As for being stale... I always refer to Irvine as sterile.
Another bad thing about Irvine. The street traffic during rush hour totally blows. There are lights for everything... and come on, get some freaking yield on green left turn lights. It is pretty rare anymore to have stretches much more than a mile without a stoplight. Oh yeah and you have to register your bike...
Not that I have an opinion about Irvine... NB is way too expensive unless you can get into a rent control apartment.
Back to the original question... Live near your work. You'll make your life so much easier.

And CJ were you kidding or really upset with my silliness (contrary to what someone else always thinks I am never serious)? I was just spoofing sorry if a nerve was struck. I withdraw any offending statements... it is true, I live in the land of less haves and I am not worthy to ride through Irvine (although I do).... oh well, buzz kill!
BTW some of my best friends live in Irvine (and Aliso, Laguna, Lake Forest, Dana Point etc). If anyone doesn't really understand I was teasing - please know there are alot of great people in all those areas. If I could afford it I would definitely live in South County, perferable Aliso Viejo. All of OC is nice. Only place better for me would be SD. like around La Jolla.
