I've always wanted to try a BCI ride; however, leaving temecula at 8:30 doesn't give me enough time to get there.... so I'm still trying to bribe someone to ride SART w/me

Sorry all, work and bike riding has severely interfered with my posting on BF.

Here's what's going to happen. We do the SART on Saturday starting at 8:00 at the water fountain just south of Anaheim Stadium (Orangewood) and head south to the beach and make a quick stop at the bathrooms at PCH and the SART. From there we head north to Green River and back again.

The good thing about this ride is we can all get together at different points on the trail and pick up riders and people can also pull off if need be. It's still just Wednesday and we can make adjustments to accommodate Tracy and others.

Ok so far???

Who's in?

I could meet for part of the ride. This is my normal solo or small group ride on Saturday provided that no other group rides are going on. Being that I start in Huntington Beach, I usually head to Green River and and back. While I start pretty early (6-630) I don't think I'll be able to meet up at Anaheim Stadium by 8, though even if I did, I'd be heading in the opposite direction - away from the beach towards Green River...

I'll play it by ear to see how things are working out by friday night.

Starting at 8 am? Takes about 50 minutes to get to the beach, then maybe close 2 hours back to Green river. I bet the group isn't at GR till about 11 am.

Tracy will be purty early being there at 9:30.

Tracy, are you riding out and back, basically like the time we rode on SART together nearly a year ago? I may try to take the day off to join you guys... we'll see...

Yup, that's the plan I figure if everyone coming from the other side hammers their way up to green river, they'll be okay going at a tad slower pace going back!

I'd love to see ya Jason!!!

Yes it is.
Ok, I'll do this, in the opposite direction.
I'm going to start at PCH/SART at 7, head north and catch everyone coming down.
If I still need miles after getting back to PCH, then a quick trip around back bay will
make me feel better!

Anyone want to start at PCH/SART at 7am with me?

The start is HERE.

Lots of options here...if we started at 8:30 by the stadium as suggested, and went inland to Green River first, we'd meet tprevost at about 9:30. We could then head down to the beach, and back to the stadium, thus escorting her for most of the ride Ralph can tow us all and life will be gooooood If drew12 started at 7:30 instead of 7, he'd be just about right to meet us at Anaheim at 8:30 and join us for the rest of the ride.

Hey Drew,

I plan on being at the SART and the 405 at about 7:30 and heading north to meet up with everyone coming south.

I'll see if I can pull the group in at least one direction... I don't want Ralph to be forced to pull the whole way and thus scared off from organizing another ride. Though I might not be able to keep up with him... his stories of his group zipping up and down SART... I don't ever see those kinds of speeds.

Tracy, do you have your heart set on a 60 miler. We sometimes start from the Ice Palace shopping center. It's only a 54 mile roundtrip to PCH but much cleaner than Greenriver. I've heard stories of homeless getting into cars at the Greenriver dirt lot (hey, I was hungry).

Plus it eliminates the dirty section (IMO) of the ride. Center is right near the bridge at Gypsum Cyn that leads into the park areas.

Directions: 91 West to Gypsum Cyn (West of GreenRiver), exit go right (1/4 mile), left on La Palma, go left (1/4 mile) to the Ice Palace center. (guesstimates on the 1/4 mile distances)

The center also has a burgerstand /coffee shop type restaurant. Esther's Tacos, gas station

Address if interested in a mapquest. 23641 La Palma Ave. Yorba Linda, Ca. 92887

Hey that sounds like a decent ride. I'm in. I'll meet by the statium at 8:30.

Can someone give me directions to the leaky waterfountain south of the Rampart St fire training station.

You talking about the Orangewood exit off the 57, West to Rampart, left to the water fountain. I see the gate has been sealed. There is a way around though.

The gate often gets locked Monday but is usually unlocked by Tuesday for the rest of the week. No idea why, but it is annoying. You can walk around it or ride up the street a 1/4 mile if you do not like walking through the dirt.

It's only 4 or 5 minutes beyond the Greenriver exit on the 91 fwy. 52-54 miles roundtrip from that point. Plus you can do another 5 extra on PCH if you want more.

Just watch out for Drew, he's likes to race!

I could meet you on SART at Katella, just about 8:30.

I do have a family ****ion that afternoon and evening, so would need to
make sure not to wear myself out too much!

okay, I'll try that one then... especially if you think its better/safer etc. I've only done the SART once so I'm pretty clueless. Is Gina coming? I'll never be able to keep up with you all though.... but I figure eventually someone will notice and wait for me

I placed ez directions in post #65 and an address if you want to mapquest directions. It's easy to find though.

I never know if Gina has to work until Friday afternoon, so I'm not sure. I just had a tooth surgically removed. I should be ok for a good steady pace. None of this Race Drew stuff!

It seems like someone from the city has been sealing the gate at some point. I've found that it is closed on Monday and Tuesday, open Wed-Fri at least. It's been open every Saturday I've ridden there as well, but yes, you can ride up the street and hit a trail entrance or you can walk your bike around the gate right there and enter that way as well.
