Keep in mind that a mere 110-lb rider with a 16-lb. bike came down Mt. Baldy Road at 47mph.
Now ask yourself... do you want to go up that?

Forget reasoning with John, Joy. We was coming off of his Baldy day (45 miles with 8K+ feet of gain) on Sunday and he still sprinted up Chantry last night, dropping two other male riders who tried desperately to catch him. It was kind of funny to watch as men always have to race each other up hills. And the funny thing is that one of the riders couldn't even keep up with his friend and as I almost caught up to him, he looked over his shoulder, saw me, and then stood up and hammered as hard as he could to pull a distinct lead. I started laughing my arse off. John, of course, beat all of us up the mountain and then came back down a ways to keep me company to the top. The two male riders didn't so much as flash a smile as they passed us going back down. All John could say was, "I almost beat my best time up but my legs are still sore from Baldy on Sunday." Oh, brother!

Hey! What did I tell you last night! You better make it abundantly clear, that SONIA watched while I pet your snake and the other one...I'll have no inappropriate shenanigans implied otherwise. Besides, I'd rather pet Sonia (she looked so pretty in that top last night)

Get this back on track. I might see you guys up there since it looks like that might be our Sunday ride for the next couple of weeks (from San Dimas).
merider1 you should have caught that guy. I took my wife up GMR for her first time a couple of weeks ago. I was riding a little bit in front of her when she said something to me. A guy that we were catching heard her voice and immediately started riding faster trying to hold us off. About a mile later he pulled off to the side, unclipped and slumped over his bars. I made sure he was ok when I went by, but it was evident he hadn't wanted to get caught by a woman.

I went up the road to give her and her prey, er the other riders time to chat, I didn't realize they were going to chase me, instead!

Toporoute puts the average grade at somewhere around 7.4%...looks like there's pitches of 10-15 thrown in there, right?
Eh...might be good training for the PIE ride in November, right?
Good motivation to get my butt in gear.

I actually kind of like that idea...Instead of the long, drawn-out, and deceptive agony that is Glendora Ridge Road, you get a 13 mile swift kick in the nuts.
