I have SIDI's for about a year and they're pretty good. Do check out Specialized too (I didn't), because some of the guys and gals here gave them great reviews.
SIDI dominator-level shoes go on sale once in a while; and PBK has them for cheap. But locally, I've seen the lady's version on clearance a few times that brings the $200 down to $100 or lower.

SIDIs and Specialized fits are completely different. If one works for you the other will most likely not, as the arches are positioned differently.

Thats true..but usually they will order it for you to try...they are one of few mfg's that make a wider width...

The wide version is labeled with "Mega". The normal ones fit me find. In terms of shoe sizes (I'm 7.5/41), I find the cycling shoes readily available. But over the past 3 weeks I've been searching for running shoes and most local stores only have 8 and up; though I eventually did find one.

I'm also going to check out specialized. I've been getting advice from reliable sources to do so. I will try on before I buy for sure.

Thanks, Dave. I thought about specialized, but at this point, either one is probably going to do the trick. I've been doing all my miles on cheap Shimanoes (the pair I bought was cheap), so any upgrade will help, I'm sure. I just want the numb/hot toes and ball of foot thing to go away.
Had a pair of Specialized for my first 6 months of riding and my toes were frequently burning/hot.hot.hot! I believe they were just to wide for me up front.
Moved to SIDIS and only on the last 15 miles of this years Cool Breeze DM did I feel the hot toes. I can't recall this problem on any ride other than this one with the SIDIS.
Check www.Competitivecyclist.com. I got my SIDIS for $160 last fall (msrp $229).

Specialized with a Trek bike??? not very OCP...
One other thing you can do is put in footbeds like Super Feet (yes I know specialized has them also)
They are much better than what comes in the shoe....I use them both in my road and mtb shoes...definitely nice...

FYI the NOAA site says the low in Lockwood Valley Friday night will be 27 with a north wind in the 20's. If you haven't done this ride this time of year be prepared to dress for a 40 degree temp swing during the day.

M.E.,
I know this isn't a shoe thread, but I really like my Specialized shoes. When I started riding, Sidi's were fine for low mileage, but once I got into longer rides. Definitely got a hot foot, and numbness in the front of the foot.
The specialized shoes have a wider toe box, that along with their insoles, spread the metataursel so the forefoot is not cramped together. This little link to a shop in Massachusetts, does a great job explaining the Specialized BG concepts.

I really like my shoes, I have flat feet, pronated ankles, and no knee or hip issues.

Turns out I'm out as well. An unexpected birthday party that I can't skip on friday evening is definitely going to keep me in bed past the start time on Saturday morning.

For those who aren't bailing on this ride, is might be cold at the start, so be prepared. Vance, are you coming with us? We have Bill, Paul, Pete, me, maybe Laura and maybe Bob. Wow.

We can park near the market at Lockwood Valley Road and Frazier Mountain Park Road. Exit the 5 at Frazier Park and go west 7.5 miles, or so. No bathrooms at the start, so stop near the fwy. If you insist, you could start at the Flying J and ride up to the start. I would like to roll at 8:00. The loop is 86 miles, unless you start at the fwy, which makes 100, for all you number-obsessed types. I'll try to recriut some of my clubmates, but some are doing the AC century and the Grizzly and the 508 are also that weekend.
Do you want to set a definite meeting place? At the intersection of Lockwood Valley Road and Frazier Mountain Park Road? Don't know the area, so would like to pin it down.
Half a dozen stop signs on the whole route. No stoplights. Beautiful California high country. Spacious skies. Amber waves of grain. Purple mountains majesty. No sane, fit person should skip this ride.

John, just bumping this thread. Are the above directions on where to meet still good?
