um...I'm here. Just don't want to keep complaining' about being sick.

thomson: no, hair on the chest is not an indicator of climbing. Lack of hair is an indicator of climbing. Think Michael Rasmussen....

^^^^ incredible, can you imagine Brodsky's power with that amount of weight? (I think even HappyTime has Rasmussen beat)

Thanks for the encouragement, I know it will get better. I have been in a little bit of a rough spot lately that will soon pass.

But this image of Baldy won't leave me, it was spectacular. Snow capped, looking so domineering over the other peaks. It needs to be conquered and you guys are just the ones to do it!!

BTW he looks almost normal in that picture. that must be early in the season, before he started looking like a concentration camp survivor.

The best time to ride.
Were you in the hills or on the path?

I wish I lived closer. I would so come join you. I think I'm going to ride at 5:00am on Friday up in the canyons around the Rose Bowl. That is only if I can drag my butt out of bed, though. Lately, I've been wanting to sleep in.

It's getting colder in the mornings, so its harder for me, too.

When it gets very chilly, I put an electric blanket on my bed, set on max. heat. I plug it into a timer so it will start to heat up around 3am. By the time I get up an hour later I feel toasted and my legs are warm, so I don't feel so bad about going for a ride or in the pool.

I don't know how you early risers do it. I also don't know how you manage to ride solo... I think I've done maybe 3 rides all year that were solo. And none of those were over 25 miles. I'm such a softie.

Well, actually, Vance, before I became the BF Post Ho, I used to ride alone quite often. I enjoy it at times, and especially on dark, cold mornings as I'm usually in a pissy mood and do not feel like talking. With that said, I can snap out of it pretty quickly when riding with folks I like. But there is something about solo riding that can be very cathartic. I do my best thinking when on a bike riding at a steady pace. My mind just wonders and I often work through my "demons" if you will. It's great. Cheap therapy is what I sometimes call it.

For me, before the sun rises, I use my (cover your eyes Mary) iPod and just enjoy the peacefulness. Evening riding is different, there are people out and about. Between 3-5am around here, nothing.

Group rides are for wussy.

I ride 2-3x a week solo, usually short rides but I have done 2 solo centuries this year. After a while you get used to the ghost dogs chasing you.

Uh, huh. I almost made a comment in my last post about how I cannot understand how ANYONE would put an earpiece in while riding, but decided not to go there. It seems I didn't have to, cause you did...

I like riding when it's ultra quiet and peaceful. Personally speaking, the music would ruin that for me. I prefer the squawk of my derailleur which won't shut the @#$$@# up.
