Any of us Blue Stars, starting with Voltman would be a good start as to who to pm them to.

No, it doesn't. I was very clear in my complaints, and they directly had to do with what YOU said. Yet you're still saying stuff. You could have left this last line out.

Hey guys! This thread is about the New Voltman Empire!

My only complaint is that I keep seeing posts regarding this whole issue littering the So Cal main page. When does this end and when can we go back to being a forum of local enthusiasts who get together for rides and races, discuss local traffic and law topics, and otherwise keep each other informed of local events?

Finally, I have a suggestion regarding the recent events, but would like to know whom it would be best to PM them to. It's not worth public discussion/flaming.

You weren't doing that already? Any forum this large needs juris dictions.

Ideally, the other threads regarding the issue will fall away as they have been locked. Constructive conversation can continue here. All the other good stuff can flow freely like milk and honey.

Feel free to PM me, or any of the mods you feel comfortable talking to.

What if "many" were replaced with "a few"?

I am not sure about that your V-ship....
As far as I know, there was never any intention to take anything away from BF....
we love it here...but there have been issues with some members feeling harrassed....
and more importantly was the db issues...

Brian 04-09-08 09:47 AM

Herb, I just want to point out that I'm deeply saddened by the fact that Thousand Oaks is turning into The Valley.

I know that there are a couple members who have only posted recently to continue stirring the pot. I also know the vast, vast majority of the other members have no such intentions. While there may have been no intention to draw from BF, it has happened. When people post what they once posted here somewhere else, it does detract from this forum. I'm not saying it's wrong or assigning blame, but I am accepting it as fact. People are free to post wherever they'd like, and all we can do is hope to foster an environment where people will continue to post about their cycling travails, and new people will desire to join in.

We can also post about food, right?

It's a requirement.

It's pretty simple really.

I agree.

My view is that there is/was a "cliquish" group here that joined up with a "disgruntled" group and together made a new sandbox.

I grew up in Canoga Park and then Agoura, then moved back into the valley. Sadly, the Conejo Valley is turning into the San Fernando Valley while the San Fernando Valley is turning into downtown.

Is it also your view that there is another "cliquish" group that dislikes the first "cliquish" group?

I lived in T.O. for 20 years, then Westlake for 7. Every time I go back, it gets worse. Thankfully, Main Street in Ventura is still pleasant.

What was viewed as "cliquish" was viewed by some who rarely participated in their open invitation rides. Granted, some rides were tougher than others which kept many riders out. I stay away from racing discussions or anything related to, for example. People who ride together usually form tighter bonds and there's nothing wrong with that. This happens at every subforum on this board. It's human nature. The SoCal subforum stood out because of the sheer number of active participants and their dynamics. Due to this popularity this subforum has been volatile in nature from time to time. But that's where the mods came in to keep things in line as best they could.
There are several different cliques on Bikeforums. I lurk over their discussions. None bother me.
