ESRI Users Conference - Bike Ride Anyone?

If you don't know what I'm talking about by the title then chances are you will not be there. This is a huge international conference for those within the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry who use ESRI software. The conference typically attracts 12K-15K for one week in San Diego. This year the conference is the week of August 4th - 8th.

I plan to do a carbon free commute to the conference from Pasadena to San Diego with all my clothes and laptop for the week and commute home. It is a 145 mile one way commute via my planned route.

If anyone wants to commute down and/or back with me or wants to ride one night during the conference let me know.

Not 100% sure right now if I will be riding down on Sunday or Monday, it depends if I can share a room with someone on Sunday night. I will be heading home on Friday morning. Not sure what night I will ride during the conference. Last year I rode with a co-worker from the Conference Center to Torre Pines and back. Open to suggestions this year.

I'll be on Summer break, and unless I'm out of town that week (anniversary is Aug 5th), I'd like to at least start your trek with you. Post your route and I'll plan on riding part way with you and then heading back myself.

Cool. I live just south of the Paseo. My normal route is east on California to Huntington, to the San Gabriel River Bed, to PCH. Via this route the Oceanside Amtrak station is just over 100 miles.

If I can't get a room in SD I might camp at San Onofre.

Cool, maybe if you go on Monday I'll drop off and meet my wife at work in Santa Fe Springs, then hitch a ride home with her.

I won't be going to the boozers conference, but know several people who probably will be.

Seems as if half the cyclists I know around here ("Here" being Redlands, home of ESRI.), either work there or at LLU.

I can ask around and see who's planning on bringing a bike, if you're looking for people to ride with while down there. I doubt any of them would be much interested in the commute though.

Yeah float the word. I ran in to an ESRI employee on the Solvang Double. There are plenty of riders, enough for them to produce their own jersey.
