The North County Romp 80+miles Feb 8th

CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN
What: 80 miles / 5k of climbing around San Diego North County
When: Feb 8th, 8:30am roll
Where: Solana Beach Amtrak Station
Profile: Rolling

Start at the Solana Beach Amtrak Station

The ride will include several climbs most notably - outer Torrey Pines, Sorrento Valley Pkwy/Calle Cristobal, Black Mountain Road, Del Dios and San Elijo. I tend to try and limit flat riding and most of the ride profile is either climbing or descending. Also, this is a no drop ride, with multiple regroups so come on out enjoy some roads you may not know about.

That's about 60-100 miles too far for me right now. Otherwise, sounds like a great time.

I will say this: Any schmo who opts for Option 1 instead of Option 2 should go to processing for de-pansifying ASAP.

Hahahaha... Yeah, I'm just not sure about everyone's level of comfort riding on the 15 freeway, hence option 2.

There were people walking across the (as yet unfinished) footbridge last weekend.

Brave and/or stupid. They still need to tension it, pour the cap, install the rails, etc.

Yeah, I've notice that build and have been stopping by every couple of weeks to see the progress, gotta be finished in another 2 months or so if we have any county money left.

Supposed to be done in March...overbudget by about 9 million, from what I heard.

They took a break from March-September for endangered birds' breeding season. I have still never learned which birds are endangered in that area.

I agree. Option 1 should be deleted, and everyone should HTFU.

Either weekend is fine but Sundays are better for me. I think we should start the ride at the Amtrak parking lot.

Golf is actually pretty challenging (mentally). It's not a bad way to spend the day either. All you need is rhythm (for your golf swing) and feel (for your short game). We should organize a BF golf outing - that would be hilarious.

I'd vote for the 7th. But I rarely show up for these things, so my vote shouldn't carry too much weight

I did a ride preview for option 2 (thru Highland Valley) last weekend and it wasn't that interesting except for Highland Valley and dealing with the Santa Ana's. I'm gonna try a different route to see thru Mira Mesa, Black Mountain and see what type of profile I get this time.
