MY GMR Ride This Morn (video)

Figured I'd do a video riding up GMR so those that have never had the GMR experience could see it second hand. Maybe even inspire them to get up there!....I rode easy but I think the holidays have already got the best of me. I must warn you that the downhill video is pretty shakey thanks to the poorly mounted Flip. I tried the grippy tripod that came with the camera package. Well I know it aint to good for high speed descents! But those that have never been up will get the picture!

I did meet a couple of gals on the way up as I stopped to pose. Ended up riding with one of them for a bit, darn good rider and climber. I was huffing and puffing trying to keep up as we talked.

My little grippy friend. Cool for fences and poles but sucks on the handlebars!

Looks like you had a nice ride. Now I see why you didn't want to wait till 1 PM.

Cool video. I muted the sound before I started it; I was afraid you'd start singing and I didn't want to scare my wife.

Mr. Beanz

Thank you for an awesome video! I would like to go up there someday(when I am ready). Do you have any suggestions for weekday parking spot(s)? I appreciate your time in advance.

Great Vid - the downhill section reminded me of a "end of the world movie" riding as fast as you can trying not to get caught by the crumbling mountain behind you....

Dear Hillbasher,

The Mayor has highly specific times and days when he rides. You must have caught on by now.

Some call it Beanz-Time.

I call it Diva-Time.

Your friend,

eyemage

Next time, I'm sitting Eyemage on my handlebars to hold the camera on the way down! It's the only way I'll get him up GMR!

Did you go up? I was thinking that I might see you on the way down. I would have turned around and tried to go back up with you. OK, now I'm actually kinda glad I didn't see you!

I think the music would have been enough to scare her. Sounds like an 80's love flick. Not that I know what they sound like!

Maybe you didn't spot the rocks along the road in the video, it almost caught me!

Plenty of riders park right on Glendaor Mtn Rd (corner of GMR and Sierra Madre). Some park on BoulderSprings (only signal at the base of GMR). I like to park up the road in the dirt lot (about 1/8 of a mile).

Hi Beanz,

Glad to see the road is still clear. I was up there a couple of weeks ago before the rain and I was sure that the roads would be covered with snow. I was also sure that you were going to rap the entire narration of that video.

The decent looks even scarier on your video.

you should check out mountguys.com, they probably have what you need.

A buddy of mine got a GPS mount for his GPS as he 'hacked it' to be a poor man's Garmin. He liked it alot, it was cheap, but he lost interest in riding shortly after that as he struggled to get the data into his webpage....

Eyemage said my vid wanted to make him puke, so here's some of the descent with some Helter Skelter. Just for Eyemage, puke baby puke!

Mostly same but a little extra footage.

Is that Beanz singing on the soundtrack again?

This and Angela's Crest are two of the things I miss most about SoCal. Remember the first time I rode it -- thought I would die! Second time, I thought "This is shorter than last time" I got to where I could leave Alhambra, ride past the dam, up the backside of GMR and then work my way home again. If doing Baldy, I'd drive over, park near the dam, and then ride.

I'm stuck inside now, wishing I could ride outside. (Pure ice right now). Thanks... I think.
