In this wonderful Barrio of the San Fernando Valley close to 40% of traffic accidents are hit and run. I have personally witnessed a few in the last year or two. Sometimes neither party even bothers to get out of their cars they just drive away figuring that they don't have insurance and neither does the other guy. In portions of the Valley over 40% of the cars on the road are driven by unlicenced and uninsured drivers. Talk about a third world country, were in one here.
I was the victim of a hit and run once: I was standing outside of my parked car when someone else backed into mine. Instead of getting out, he took off. I hopped into my car and got the plate number before trying to get them to pull over to no avail. I reported it and after a month, contacted the police department. The response was that they sent a letter to the owner and never got a reply, so the case was closed unsolved. The lesson: Just ignore the cops and they won't punish you.

You can say it. We all know what you're talking about. It's OK. Illegal aliens. Yes, it's not politically correct to say it, but that's who you're talking about. Remember, those people are actually a boon to our economy and we would be much worse off if they weren't here. That's what Sacramento says, anyway. Who would question them?

The question that needs to be asked is, just who is this hit and run motorist the LAPD, DA and City Attorney seem to be protecting?

Although probably representative of a large quantity of the uninsured drivers, there are plenty of citizens who just plain refuse to get insurance, too. I have a relative who did just that because he chose to drive witha suspended license (DUI), and you can't get insurance if you don't have a license.
