I'm riding the Knoxville Double Century out of Vacaville. David and Stefan are riding it too; not sure about anyone else. You can still
sign up Genaro! It's a beautiful double; this will be Knoxville #8 for me.

I'm getting up at the crack of dawn to redo a ride I did at the beginning of September (Whittier to Capistrano - https://app.strava.com/rides/21464179). It was hotter than the hinges of H E double hockeysticks last time, but I figure starting at 5 am will remedy that nicely.
I'm hoping the improvement in temps will result in at LEAST a mile an hour improvement. I was dog slow last time. I'll still be dog slow on Nohl Ranch Rd and Cannon because they're steep, but I really dragged through Santiago. We'll see.

Severe weather alert says ... HOT WEATHER FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY... Damn you high pressure system!
Looks like I'll be riding Saturday. With 70's forecast next week in the IE I'm hoping this is Mother Nature's final summer hurrah...

OC Grand Fondo Saturday, ya I know why pay $100 bucks to ride in your own back yard but signing up for organized rides motivates me to get out and more often.

Going to a wedding Sat so no ride that day. I have about 30 miles to go to hit my Sept goal, so probably get up early Sun to beat the heat and try and smash my goal by at least 1.75 miles. I'm thinking San Dimas to Rancho and back.

. Nice ride under the LAX runway. I LOVE jets! I saw an A380 Airbus take off so low I thought the SOB was gonna end up in my lap. AWESOME sh*t

Saturday doing a TRUE beginner ride with a new rider in my club from Liberty Park to Seal Beach (will be riding my FX as the newbie is on her mountain bike...riding my Madone not necessary).
Depending on the heat and how I'm feeling may get home, grab the Madone and go for longer/faster ride.
Sunday will likely go for a 25 miler or so on SGRT.

40-mile club ride today that included 16 miles of circles and figure-eights in Rancho Santa Fe - gah! At least they've repaved most of the roads.

I think I rode around 12-15 miles on my folding bike on the Ventura bike paths today. Gonna maybe do 25 on the Beach Cruiser tomorrow on the Beach paths starting near LAX and going South from there and back. Hopefully see another A380 take off low

The Knoxville Double was a fun ride, very well supported by the Quacks! Yes, it was toasty . . . I got 104 for the high on my Garmin, probably Knoxville Grade or the "Lemond" climb up the backside of Cobb Mountain.
The Quacks had plenty of ice at all the regular checkpoints plus two "mini" stops with ice and water, so really, no problems. 202 miles, a bit over 13,000 feet of climbing in 15:15 hours. Start and finish in the dark! A full day of cycling.

Took two old friends who are new cyclists down to the SART (San Bernandino section) from Watterman to Norco and back. Had a great time. They did a really nice job for their first long-ish ride- Pretty quite out on the trail. Made it back to Watterman before the sun got too hot.
