palomar would be a sufferfest which is not necessarily a bad thing.

there's enough real estate to rock either a coastal/foothills or mountains ride.
to combine both would likely end up in a century/near century ride.

I will be up for a Palomar ride or any other ride in SD area. Just don't procrastinate too long, I'm a hot and dry weather guy. As GP put it some time ago - if the neighbour is watering his garden, I call it a rainy day and sleep in.

Greetings Everyone. Just received notice that I'm officially registered on Bike Forums. First off, I'd like to thank all those involved in organizing the Left Turn Tour. I had a blast! Many kind thanks to those I encountered before, during and after the ride that made an ol' guy feel welcome in getting to play in your beautiful backyard. To Kim, wonderful of you to be my tour guide for most of the ride and yes I do trust you. To Jimmy for being most gracious in waiting for a straggler like me and taking us the last 12 miles to the finish. The Pizza and Beer was a great way to cap off the day. Good meeting Mike and Vic there as well. Hope to do it again some day. Jim Diaz

Hey Jim, welcome to the forum! It was good meeting you too. Let's see if these San Diego yuppies will organize a ride for us in their back yard. They've got some pretty cool places to drink coffee, and good pizza and beer too. The riding is not bad either.

Alright, I just watched a TV show called "Brew Dogs" and not only did they visit San Diego, they highly recommended Pizza Port. Who knew? I keep reading about different pizza port oriented rides and think, "why would you ride from pizza shop to pizza shop" but now I'm clued in.

Any SD ride should include a stop at a Pizza port, or perhaps Lost Abbey. Pie is optional, Palomar is recommended. Just saying.

To include both Pizza Port and Palomar is around 105 miles and 10K vertical feet.

Which Pizza Port? Solana Beach to Mothers and back is 94 miles. And if you start at Lost Abbey, 86 or even less.

Not to middle the issue even further-not that there is an issue really-but rode down india st.
in little italy the other day and ballast point has a big new tasting room (and presumably grub)
that is nearly complete and should be open soon. it's just north of india/grape so the cross st
should be hawthorn or ivy. just an fyi...

I've been to the Pizza Port in Carlsbad. I'm guessing a bunch of roadies in spandex would stand out. The place reminded me of a college town bar.
