Flagstaff drivers

I'm just curious... Are all Arizona drivers clueless as to how to drive around cyclists and pedestrians or only those up here in Flagstaff? Every day I encounter several drivers who endanger my life, some by one or two feet, and I wonder what the driver's test is like in this state. Or maybe it's different for each county or region? I've biked and been in countless states and countries and this place really rates as one of the worst for a first world country. I was in Tucson last year and don't remember the drivers being so bad.

Okay, my venting is over with. Venting is due to a driver tagging me this morning as I was walking my bike along on the sidewalk.

It's normal everywhere. You think you got it bad... Have you ever ridden bikes in Phoenix? I was hit by cars twice in two years.

Driver's test? Hahaha. To get my license in Mesa they gave me the standard written test that any 5th grader can pass and then had me drive around the block a couple times.

Had this discussion with my wife. Here's THE problem:

ARIZONA: Licenses expire on the 65th birthday, and until then drivers only need new photos every 12 years — making Arizona unique in how long a license can last. Starting at 65, drivers must renew every five years, with a vision test each time. At age 70, renewal can no longer be done by mail.

In CA, I had to renew my license every 5 years!! It's no wonder you have people who've been driving for decades and are rusty as boardwalk nails. I absolutely love cycling here because of the infrastructure, but these drivers are definitely ones to watch.
