Eccentric eccentric
We have a KHS Milano. When I measure the captain BB shell I don’t get a consistent dimension. The maximum is 54.5. Minimum is 54.2. Suggestions for eccentric brand? The no-name EBB that came with it is only so-so.

The variance in BB dimension noted by the o.p. is within the design error for drugstore calipers. Joking. Kind of. What exactly are they measuring is what I'm wondering. There isn't any part of a BB with a dimension like that. Not one that is relevant to eccentric sourcing in any case. I'm pretty sure that a KHS Milano is using straightforward eccentric shells and the Bushnell eccentric is the consumer standard. No need to measure anything because they don't come in different sizes. They fit, or they don't. Depending on where you are in the country 'Precision Tandems' might be closer. I've never dealt with Tandems East but they are very highly regarded. Precision Tandems I have dealt with, and they pulled me out of a real jam once because our tandem is our car and essential to the morning commute as there is no mass transit running early enough to get DW (blind) to her worksite and I (legally blind) cannot drive her there. Any bike shop local to you should be able to get a Bushnell eccentric for you and probably install it too. Even if they don't sell tandems, I'd be surprised if they haven't worked on several over the years. All that said, it is a salient question asked by the other poster. A problem with the Captain BB may not affect the eccentric and would be it's own issue.

The calipers I’m using are fine. First Components makes EBBs that are for 54.5 shells. The shell is out of round; end of story. I’m trying a EBB from Carver Bikes
