Bushnell Eccentric on Jack Taylor

I have a vintage '74 JT Tandem that I am in the process of restoring. Has anyone replaced their eccentric with a Bushnell or would that be considered sacrosaint? Would appreicate hearing about your experience if anyone has done so. I am also looking to purchase a 26.0 Thomson seatpost (330mm and silver).
