Rear Rack for Santana
Is there a rear rack that works best for a Santana with 160mm spacing and V-Brakes?
The one I have used in the past is a Blackburn. I had to bend the legs out to fit the 160mm spacing and I could not use the side mounts on the seat stays because the V Brakes are in the way, so I used the center mount located on the bottom side of the small tube that bridges across the seat stays. Its not ideal and probably not very strong so I am looking for a better solution. Are the chain stays long enough to prevent the stokers feet from hitting the panniers or do I need a long rack or a set back? I found this rack which appears to mount on top of the V Brakes:

Thanks

Old Man Mountain made one for Santana. (I think it's made for 160 mm spacing, otherwise probably no different than a regular Old Man Mountain Rack).
$90 at precision tandems: https://precisiontandems.com/cataloga...htm#racks4bike
Here's the owners manual: https://santanatandem.com/Library/RearRackInst.pdf
I have one laying around I was thinking of ebaying. (We "upgraded" to a disc). I'd have to dig around to make sure I have all the hardware. Make me an offer, and I'll probably part with it.

Hey Mike,
If you have all the parts I would give you $30 plus shipping.
Let me know. I was wondering what the difference is between this rack and the $45 OMM White Rock for 160 spacing that is also on Precision Tandems site.
Thanks

I'll look around the garage...
When I bought it, this was the only "Santana" rack (though currently, I'm just stretching a Blackburn, so you could probably stretch a regular Old Man Mountain rack a few extra mm).
From the Old Man Mountain Website, it looks like the White Rock Rack is rated to carry 40 lbs, and the Red Rock is 60. (The Red Rock is also 140g heavier if such things are important). These specs are for thier standard racks, I'm not sure if there's any difference for the Santana versions.

Mike,
Just heard from Precision tandems and the "Santana" version which is what I assume u have is not available anymore. He said the White Rock would work tho so I may get that one. He also said the White Rock has a ledge to secure the panniers where the Santana does not. So don't go crazy looking for your parts.
