Fill a Schrader Valve with a Presta pump?
On Memorial Day we passed an older guy walking his bigbox comfort bike. As we zipped by, as asked (yelled): "Do you need air?" "YES!" So we turned around, went back, and proceeded to remove our frame pump.
We've had our used Arriva for about a year. It came with the frame pump that I was removing....for the first time. Oops!, it's a Presta valve only pump. How embarrassing for me; and REALLY disapointing for him.
So the question is.... Is there some kind of adapter that I can use with the Presta pump that will allow use on a Schrader valve?
Thanks.

Not that I know of, but many pumps work on both types of valve. But would it have helped him anyway? I presume he got a puncture in his tube. Filling it with air might have let him ride for a short distance but would probably have gone flat again quite quickly. You could have given him a spare tube (I usually carry a couple patched ones and can give one out to others if necessary) with a Presta valve. Not an ideal match for his rim but it'll usually work ok.

On some pumps, if the head is unscrewed and a couple of bits reversed, it'll work on the other kind of valve than what it was set up for.

Yes! I've had one for years! I'll see if I can find a link as I have no idea where I got it.

Sorry to bump an old thread. I just bought a Lezyne Road Drive pump and just noticed that its only for presta valves. The valves currently on my bike are schrader and I'd hate to swap out the tubes just so I can use the pump.
Does anyone know if the adapter linked above by MNBikeCommuter will work on this pump? I was also looking at this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/Silca-2220-Sch...ef=pd_sxp_f_pt
Thanks

The one that you point out should be fine. The one that MTBcommuter shows looks like the reverse...adapts a presta valve stem to a schraeder pump. It wouldn't be practical to switch to presta tubes, because the valve holes in the rims will be oversized.

Nigel...I stand corrected. I should have guessed that this issue would have been addressed! Thank you.

That Lezyne pump is the only one that uses a presta only flexible connector; most of the Lezyne connectors are Schrader one side and Presta the other. They fit in the same space so the elegant solution would be to get one of the other connectors. Might have to order direct from Lezyne.
