The wife and I are close to booking a tandem tour with gtg tandems in NY. We will fly out and rent one of their bikes for an 8night/7 days of touring with 4 dinners and 4 cocktail happy hours included. It will be our first bike tour and my first time in 60 years to be on the Right side coast. We are excited to be going.

Haven't done one of their full tours, but we did get a chance to attend their "Tandem Weekend" a few years ago when they still lived in south-central NY. Very well organized, nice attendees, and Rich and his wife (whose name escapes me at the moment) were great hosts. I'm sure you will be pleased!

Interesting, my wife and I just signed on for one of their 2013 tours yesterday.
We've taken over 20 bicycle tour vacations but this will be our first tandem tour beyond the several weekend tandem rallies we've attended.

Great thread! These are really good tours. Lindy & I have been on 30 of the Gear-To-Go Tandems tours since 2001. Of course it helps that we run the tours

Brian, you were at our last Sithern Tier Tandem Rally in 2009. That was the year we had a tag sale going on in the house during the weekend since we moved out two days later! You ought to make the trip up to Saranac Lake for our rallies. I can promise you, all different rouites from the last time in Elmira.

We've been looking at maps of NY and tracing the routes. We are going S to Lake Mead outside of Vegas in a few days to spend a week riding the tandem for consecutive days. That will help us decide if we're ready for a tandem tour in 2013. I must say that Rich has been very informative and helpful in reesponding to my questions!
