Cable Splitter Question

We have DaVinchi(sp?) cable splitter on our Co-Motion Speedster. As I am getting ready to change the cables I have a question. When I attach the cable from the front end of the bike I see the 2 set screws that hold it in place.Would it be a good idea to solder the cable end before inserting into the splitter and tightening the screws?

Overkill. The cut end is going to be covered, so it's not going to unravel and poke you. And once it's inserted and tightened it doesn't really matter if the very end frays.
